US - CBS manufactures more "news"

Having been caught red handed using forged documents in an attempt to smear Bush and affect the outcome of the last election, hasn't stopped CBS from manufacturing more "news".

Just the other day CBS was caught once again forging documents. This was a minor incident but it goes to the heart of CBS's fake but accurate theme.

Today CBS continues to manufacture "news" with a "poll" they claim show "Bush Ratings At All-Time Low".

But if you scroll down to the bottom of the poll (in PDF) you'll find out CBS faked the poll.

The Left in the blogsphere is all a twitter of this but once again, you can see the Left's mouthpiece has been caught faking it - again.

The Left have no ideas of their own, can't win honestly and so they have to cheat and lie.

Islam - Kids call for killing

The religion of peace and tolerant teaches them young.

Thousands of children chanting "Hang those who insulted the Prophet" have taken part in a rally against cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohammed.

Around 5,000 youngsters - mainly aged eight to 12 and some in school uniform - marched in Karachi.

They also torched a coffin draped in US, Israeli and Danish flags at a traffic intersection in the port city as police in riot gear looked on.

The rally was organized by Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan's largest Islamic group.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Islam - Qaradawi:"there’s a Jew behind me, come and kill him.”

That's London's mad mayor, red Ken Livingstone's, friend Yousef Al-Qaradawi speaking.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Islam - Cartoons most important since 9/11

That's what this writer thinks.

The reason I have written so copiously on this subject -- not the cartoons themselves, but what I have called the “organized apoplexy” in response to them -- is because it is important. In my judgement, it is the most important thing that has happened since the Al Qaeda attack on the United States, in 2001. It is important in combination with other fast-developing events, including the victory of the openly terrorist Hamas in a Palestinian election; Iran’s public promise to “wipe Israel off the map”; collapsing public order in Pakistan, Nigeria, and elsewhere; the recent Muslim riots, and continuing low-level Intifada in France; and now the destruction of the Golden Mosque in Samarra, triggering vicious sectarian strife in Iraq. And quite literally, hundreds of lesser events of the same nature -- each revealing an Islamic world in combustion, and a West retreating into contrived apologies and other confused gestures of cowardice and panic.

One cannot keep up with all these events -- the wheels of history are turning too quickly. The world in which we will find ourselves, a few years hence, will not resemble the world we inhabited a few years ago. Yet this is among the few predictions that can be safely made. The events will fall out as unpredictably as those Danish cartoons. The names, dates, and places are not yet recorded; but the shape and scale of events is already blotting the sun on our horizon.

Too bad the Western media didn't publish the cartoons so the world could have witnessed the depth and breadth of Muslim intolerance to free speech.

He has some warnings that we should heed so read the whole thing.

Europe - jihad is winning

Sounds about right.

This may seem fantastic to people in Britain. But the story of Holland — which I have been charting for some years — should be noted by her allies. Where Holland has gone, Britain and the rest of Europe are following. The silencing happens bit by bit. A student paper in Britain that ran the Danish cartoons got pulped. A London magazine withdrew the cartoons from its website after the British police informed the editor they could not protect him, his staff, or his offices from attack. This happened only days before the police provided 500 officers to protect a “peaceful” Muslim protest in Trafalgar Square.

It seems the British police — who regularly provide protection for mosques (as they did after the 7/7 bombs) — were unable to send even one policeman to protect an organ of free speech. At the notorious London protests, Islamists were allowed to incite murder and bloodshed on the streets, but a passer-by objecting to these displays was threatened with detention for making trouble.

Holland — with its disproportionately high Muslim population — is the canary in the mine. Its once open society is closing, and Europe is closing slowly behind it. It looks, from Holland, like the twilight of liberalism — not the “liberalism” that is actually libertarianism, but the liberalism that is freedom. Not least freedom of expression.
[...]

Europe is shuffling into darkness. It is proving incapable of standing up to its enemies, and in an effort to accommodate the peripheral rights of a minority is failing to protect the most basic rights of its own people.

The governments of Europe have been tricked into believing that criticism of a belief is the same thing as criticism of a race. And so it is becoming increasingly difficult and dangerous to criticise a growing and powerful ideology within our midst. It may soon, in addition, be made illegal.

And all of this is because of Islam.

Iraq - BBC: Democracy is root of violence

You may recall Paul Adams, the BBC's defence correspondent, complained that the BBC was lying in its coverage of Iraq.

"I was gobsmacked to hear, in a set of headlines today, that the coalition was suffering 'significant casualties'. This is simply not true," Adams said in the memo.

"Nor is it true to say - as the same intro stated - that coalition forces are fighting 'guerrillas'. It may be guerrilla warfare, but they are not guerrillas," he stormed.

"Who dreamed up the line that the coalition are achieving 'small victories at a very high price?' The truth is exactly the opposite.

That didn't stop the BBC's John Simpson from lying about Iraq war casualties. After he was caught out, the BBC Admitted it Lied About Iraq War Casualties Also see here and here.

You might also remember that it was John Simpson who called the 7/7 Muslim terrorists "misguided criminals" and al Qaeda the "resistance".

I'll say one thing for Simpson, he's consistent and consistently wrong.

Here Simpson tries to fool you with the you broke it you fix argument.

What happened was that US and British forces invaded Iraq in 2003 and smashed the state, causing an anger and bitterness which the Bush administration and the Blair government have never acknowledged.

Yes, I'm sure they long for the good ole days of Saddam. The problem with this argument is that Iraq was already broke and is in fact now being rebuilt - thanks to Blair and Bush.

Guess what Simpson blames as the reason he thinks things are bad in Iraq? Democracy!

Looking back on the events of the past year, it is clear that the three different popular votes which were held in Iraq, two elections and one referendum, played a big part in whipping up the violence. [...]

The act of voting was as divisive as it was empowering, and the fact that it happened three times in 11 months added to the intensity of the problem.

Unbelievable. Hey, it gets worse.

At first, the resistance movement held off its attacks, anxious to see what would happen and worried that it might find itself running completely counter to the feelings of the Iraqi population.

Al Qaeda is the "resistance movement" and not terrorist group.

And now for the big lie.

Yet all this is history now - just like the rights and wrongs of the original decision to invade Iraq, and the non-existence of the weapons of mass destruction, and the fact that there never were enough American troops to do the job properly, and all the rest of it.

What do you call these Simpson?

Nobody disputes the tapes' authenticity. On them, Saddam talks openly of programs involving biological, chemical and, yes, nuclear weapons.

War foes have long asserted that Saddam halted his WMD programs in the wake of his defeat in the first Gulf War in 1991. Saddam's abandonment of WMD programs was confirmed by subsequent U.N. inspections.

Again, not true. In a tape dating to April 1995, Saddam and several aides discuss the fact that U.N. inspectors had found traces of Iraq's biological weapons program. On the tape, Hussein Kamel, Saddam's son-in-law, is heard gloating about fooling the inspectors.

"We did not reveal all that we have," he says. "Not the type of weapons, not the volume of the materials we imported, not the volume of the production we told them about, not the volume of use. None of this was correct."

There's more. Indeed, as late as 2000, Saddam can be heard in his office talking with Iraqi scientists about his ongoing plans to build a nuclear device. At one point, he discusses Iraq's plasma uranium program — something that was missed entirely by U.N. weapons inspectors combing Iraq for WMD.

Perhaps Simpson should read, Jeremy Paxman's, his BBC co-worker, book wherein Paxman describes Saddam's WMD's in detail.

Or, perhaps listen to this ABC News broadcast detailing WMDs and Saddam's connections to terrorists including al Qaeda.

Hell, Simpson would even do well to read my post on the subject.

One thing is certain, if it's from the BBC, you can bet your not getting the truth - especially if John Simpson's name is on it.

UPDATE

Looks like Simpson's longed for civil war isn't going to happen and things therefore are not as dire as Simpson hopes.

US - 68% of Americans support Bush's wiretaps

Here's the poll.

Nonetheless, the president can take some consolation in the fact that almost seven in 10 (68%) adults think that he is justified in authorizing wiretaps without court authorization. A substantial 43 percent think the president is often justified, with another quarter (25%) saying that he is sometimes justified. Less than one-third (31%) say that the president is not justified, with 13 percent saying he is rarely justified and 18 percent saying he is never justified.

The Democrats are on the wrong side of the argument - again.

US - Is Air America violating Campaign Finance Laws?

Could be.

So almost $22,000 a day ($8 million in losses spread over a year) is being funneled into AAR by George Soros and the gang to promote candidates they would otherwise be limited to donating some multiple of $2,100 to (of course they can still do that too), while at the same time giving these candidates air time and web site promotion to raise money from others.

From here, this looks like an end-run around campaign finance laws, not that it will mean much to the rest of the media.

UN - Annan: We need to adjust

Why is Annan still at the UN? Get a load of this:

In truth, the present conflicts and misunderstandings probably have more to do with proximity than with distance. The offensive caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad were first published in a European country which has recently acquired a significant Muslim population, and is not yet sure how to adjust to it. And some of the strongest reactions – perhaps especially the more violent ones – have been seen in Muslim countries where many people feel themselves the victims of excessive Western influence or interference.

Got that? We're the ones who are suppose to adjust to Muslim immigrants and not the other way around.

9/11, 3/11, Bali and 7/7 were "misunderstandings"? And they're the victims? No wonder the UN can't define terrorism.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Iraq - Saddam Had WMD

That's the headline of this Investors Business Daily report.

Inconveniently for critics of the war, Saddam made tapes in his version of the Oval Office. These tapes landed in the hands of American intelligence and were recently aired publicly.

The first 12 hours of the tapes — there are hundreds more waiting to be translated — are damning, to say the least. They show conclusively that Bush didn't lie when he cited Saddam's WMD plans as one of the big reasons for taking the dictator out.

France - Losing it and the UK is next

Instapundit has some links to various reports about attacks on Jews by Muslims in France.

What stands out for me is how the media are covering up these attacks, just like the BBC does here in the UK. The BBC censors the words "Muslim" and "Islam" from their stories and only uses them when the report portrays them in a positive light.

Meanwhile, the Islamization of Britain continues.

UPDATE

The AP illustrate the point perfectly.

The march was in memory of a 23- year-old cellphone salesman, Ilan Halimi, who was kidnapped on Jan. 21 and allegedly tortured by a gang in the southern Paris suburb of Bagneux.

"Allegedly"?!? Why allegedly? Read the very next sentence.

He was found naked, handcuffed and covered with burn marks on Feb. 13 near some railroad tracks south of Paris.

Halimi died while being taken to a hospital.

It gets worse.

It remains unclear whether anti- Semitism was the motive for the grisly killing, which may have been part of an extortion racket. Sarkozy said last Tuesday that Halimi's attackers had been primarily motivated by greed.

The AP want you to believe that it's "unclear whether anti- Semitism was the motive" when in fact it's very clear that was the motive.

Mark Steyn has some thoughts.

US - BBC:"The American left has faded away"

Coming from the BBC that's saying something.

While Webb's report is mainly about the failure of the Left, the underlying message is an attack on the Right.

These, of course, refer to the election of 2000 in which more Americans voted for Al Gore, but which was awarded to Mr Bush by the Supreme Court after that voting snafu in Florida.

Only in Webb's and the BBC's alternate world was Bush "awarded" the election. Every recount and study has proven conclusively that Bush won Florida. The Supreme Court didn't award anything.

But at least he gets this right:

The nation plainly elected Mr Bush - he won more than 50% of the vote - something Bill Clinton never managed.

Then Webb goes on the attack.

From World War II until the Reagan revolution the establishment in the US was socially progressive.

There was a belief that there was such a thing as society, and its ills could and should be tackled.

Webb's planting the idea that the Right doesn't hold those beliefs.

Now, there are plenty of Americans who still hold those views, but the arteries which once fed them into the nation's vital organs, have been clogged or cut.

So, now that the Right is in power, society of being killed.

The universities do not have the power they did, professorial authority is less respected.

Most importantly, the worlds of entertainment and news (which used to pipe a vaguely left-wing message into the nation's homes) have been blown to bits by technological changes which render them powerless.

"Powerless"? Come on Webb, that's a little over the top. Bloggers, Fox news and talk radio are having success at exposing the left wing professors and media but we have a long way to go.

Just in case you missed the message of how evil the Right is, Webb goes nuclear.

The Democrats need a message and a new way of communicating that message to a mass audience. They have neither.

And do not be fooled by those who say this malaise is structural, at this stage of the electoral cycle there isn't a presidential candidate etc.

No, it is more than that. The American left has faded away.

Only their bumper stickers remain, like cockroaches after a nuclear holocaust.

"Re-defeat George Bush," they whine. Not knowing, not caring that the world has changed.

Webb is moaning about the obvious failure of the Left in America and blaming the uncaring Right for their demise. But he too, like the BBC, do not know and do not care that the world has changed - for the better.

UK Muslims in London protest Mosque bombing

What's wrong with this picture?

Thousands of UK Muslims are expected to take to the streets in a show of unity as fears grow that an Iraq bomb outrage could spark civil war in the region.

Organisers said up to 10,000 people would march through central London to demonstrate their commitment to a peaceful future.

The move followed a bomb attack on one of the holiest Shia Islam sites in Iraq, the al-Askari shrine in Samarra, north of Baghdad, on Wednesday.

[Muslim]Religious leaders called for a week of mourning after two men blew up the famous golden dome in a dawn raid.

The London march was called after an emergency meeting of Muslim leaders, at the offices of the al-Khoei Foundation, the largest Shia organisation in the UK.

Ok, so what's wrong with this picture?

Where were these "peaceful" Muslim protesteres after the Twin Towers blew up? Where were they after Muslim terrorists blew up the Bali nightclub? Where were they after Madrid was attacked? Where were they after their Muslim brothers murdered over 50 innocent Britons?

Muslims don't seem to mind when their Muslim brothers murder us infidels but let someone print a cartoon, make a movie, write a book critical of Islam or attack them, then they're all up in arms rioting around the world.

You see? For all their pronouncements of peace and tolerance, Muslims only care about Muslims as they consider us infidels inferior.

Organiser Mohammed Al-Hilli, 27, whose family fled Iraq to the UK when he was aged two, said up to 10,000 people were expected to attend.

He said: "We hope to achieve two things. Firstly, to completely show our disgust and to protest against such an evil and heinous crime.

"We want to show our determination to make sure that people know these crimes must not be repeated in the future.

Yeah Mohammed but you don't give a damn when it's us infidels who are the victims of your Muslim brothers "evil and heinous" crimes. Since you didn't organize and protest then, you obviously don't care if your Muslim brothers repeat the attacks of 9/11, 3/11 or 7/7.

If this march goes off, watch how the BBC report on the peaceful and tolerant Muslims and say nary a word about why Muslims didn't protest when the attacks were directed at the West.

Oil security analysts have estimated that a serious attack on the facility could halve Saudi exports for up to a year.

UK - London's mad mayor suspended

Ashame they can't get rid of him altogether.

Ken Livingstone has been suspended from office on full pay for four weeks for comparing a Jewish journalist on London's Evening Standard to a Nazi guard.

Here is what Livingstone recently had to say about Yusuf al-Qaradawi whom he calls "leading progressive Muslim".

Here is what Qaradawi recently said about suicide terrorists.

Sheikh Yousuf Al-Qaradhawi: "Dr. Said Ramadhan [Al-Bouti] stressed the legitimacy of defense, saying it is a legitimate right in Palestine and Iraq. I think that saying it is a legitimate right is not enough, because a right is something that can be relinquished. It is a duty. All scholars say that defending an occupied homeland is an individual duty applying to every Muslim. Reducing this duty to a 'right,' which can be relinquished, is a kind of depreciation.

"We must stress this point, and emphasize that it is the rights of those defending their homeland. It is not only a right, but also their duty. I am amazed by what Dr. Muhammad Rafat 'Othman said.

Here's some more interesting things Qaradhawi has said.

[ MEMRI ] Sheikh Yousef Al-Qaradhawi , who is currently visiting the U.K. [7/4/04], is one of the most prominent clerics of Sunni Islam, and is among the top spiritual leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood movement. He is also a spiritual guide for many other Islamist organizations across the world, including supporters of Islamist terrorist organizations such as Al-Qa'ida . The European Council for Fatwa and Research is also headed by Al-Qaradhawi.

[...] Al-Qaradhawi, who has been barred from entering the U.S. since 1999

[...] Many of Al-Qaradhawi's sermons contain religious supplications directed against the U.K. and the U.S. For example, in a sermon on March 7, 2003 from the Umar Bin-al-Khattab mosque in Doha: "O God, destroy the Zionist, the American, and the British aggressors. O God, shake the ground under them and protect us from them." [5]

[...] In a Friday sermon following the Al-Qa'ida attack in Bali on October 18, 2002, he explained, "Islam does agree to such acts." [8]

[...] "What weapon can harm their enemy, can prevent him from sleeping, and can strip him of a sense of security and stability, except for these human bombs – a young man or woman who blows himself or herself up amongst their enemy. This is a weapon the likes of which the enemy cannot obtain, even if the U.S. provides it with billions [of dollars] [sic] and the most powerful weapons, because it is a unique weapon that Allah has placed only in the hands of the men of belief. It is a type of divine justice on the face of the earth… it is the weapon of the wretched weak in the face of the powerful tyrant…

With friends like Ken's it's no wonder Britain is becoming Islamicized.

West Indies - anti-American bias hampers security

Barbados Free Press emailed us this report on how anti-American sentiment may hamper security for the 2007 World Cricket cup.

In 2007, the West Indies will host the Cricket World Cup in eleven venues. Security and anti-terrorism planning has become a nightmare of politics for those responsible for policing, security and anti-terrorism operations during the World Cup.

Barbados Free Press interviewed a confidential source who says that Anti-American Bias by Caribbean leaders is weakening security planning for this major world-class event.

Over a Friday afternoon beer, a confidential source tells Barbados Free Press that British and South African intelligence agencies and counter-terror units are to play major planning and operational roles in providing security for the 2007 Cricket World Cup - but offers of U.S. assistance are being under-utilized because of anti-American bias by Caribbean leadership.

UK - BBC: Sloppy reporting we pay for

TAE has Matt Frei story from the BBC.

Snippet:

"From this week’s dose of Matt Frei’s pithy observations on America, dedicated largely to the Olympics:

Whether it is the [US's] relatively low medal count - I stress relative as the US has so far won 17 medals to the UK's 1 - or the dismal ratings of NBC's Olympics programmes, these winter games are laced with schadenfreude.

Uh, relative to what, exactly? Certainly not the rest of the field. As of yesterday morning when Frei’s column came out, the US was behind exactly 1 of the 84 competing nations in its medal count. How about historically? Nope. At 17 medals and counting with 3 days still to go, the US had already garnered more medals than any other Olympic games bar one (2002). So what exactly is Frei talking about? Is there a special word for getting pleasure from the imagined misfortunes of others?"

Read on it gets worse.

And we have to pay the BBC for this drivel.

Israelis kill five in W Bank raid

Blares the BBC headline. But five what? It's not until you read, if you read, the story that you find out this:

Three of those killed were militants of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, who shot at Israeli soldiers during a raid.

What of the other two?

Two other young men were shot dead, including one when soldiers opened fire at group of protestors throwing stones.

But how does the BBC know this for certain in order to make such a declaration?

On Sunday, witnesses said two teenage boys from Nablus were shot dead by the Israeli army while throwing stones at Israeli vehicles.

The army said they shot the teenagers while they were planting explosives.

Well, who are these witnesses that the BBC takes their word over the Israeli army? We are not told but that doesn't stop the BBC from quoting them.

When one of the armoured vehicles broke down, Palestinian youths began pelting it with stones, witnesses said.

Ibrahim Saidi, 19, was fatally wounded when the soldiers opened fire at the group of youths, witnesses said.

The Israeli army said he had been carrying a bomb.

And on and on it goes.

Witnesses quoted by AFP news agency said Israeli troops also opened fire on Palestinian rescue workers, wounding an ambulance driver and a nurse. The army said it was investigating.

You see the BBC doesn't care as long as it fits their anti-Israeli agenda.

Is there anything the BBC is not telling us? Come on, we are talking about the BBC after all.

Here's the AP headline and story.

Israeli Army Kills Top Militant

BALATA REFUGEE CAMP, West Bank - Israeli troops on Thursday killed five Palestinians, including a top militant who said just a day earlier that he would never be caught, in the largest West Bank military operation since Israel's pullout from the Gaza Strip last summer.

The three fugitives from the Al Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades were hiding in a crawlspace above the bathroom of a Balata house when soldiers ringed the building. A gun battle ensued, and at one point, the gunmen threw an explosive device toward the soldiers. Two soldiers were wounded, one seriously.

At the time of the blast, a group of medics and journalists had assembled nearby, after being prevented by troops from entering the camp, witnesses said. One medic, Khaled Saragic, said that when a soldier standing next to a jeep heard the blast, he started firing toward medics and journalists, wounding three people.

Also, Physicians for Human Rights-Israel charged that soldiers were impeding the movement of ambulances. Late Thursday afternoon, they said, four ambulances were trapped inside the camp.

The military denied that soldiers fired indiscriminately or that ambulances were detained. However, the army said ambulances were checked because of attempts to smuggle fugitives out of the camp.

The military said it was not aware of such incidents, and said all gunfire was directed toward armed Palestinians or those throwing firebombs.

More.

The Israeli military said troops entered Balata after receiving warnings that Al Aqsa and two other militant groups in and around the West Bank city of Nablus were planning attacks against Israelis. Before the raid, soldiers in the Nablus area seized four bomb belts, said Maj. Sharon Assman, an army officer in the area. Such belts are used in suicide bombings.

The AP use the same "witnesses said" over and over like the BBC but at least the AP give you the true picture of what happened and didn't cover up for Palestinian terrorists like the BBC did.

Palestinians have been caught in the past using ambulances to smuggle arms and terrorist.

Hypocrisy of the Left

The Left are supposed to be the champions of liberal ideals, protectors of women's rights, minorities and religios freedoms as well as personal freedoms.

But faced with the religion Islam that is opposed to all of those, what does the Left do? Remain silent.

Muslim abuse of their women is well known and widely reported and yet the Left remain silent. Can anyone point to an article by a western women's rights group speaking out against abuse of Muslim women?

Dutch film maker Van Gogh was murdered by Muslims for speaking out against Muslim abuse of their women and Hollywood remained silent.

In Saudi Arabia, Bibles are burned and Christians are persecuted while the Left remain silent. In fact, that's the case in most Muslim countries.

And now, one of our most, if not the most, important freedoms is under attack - freedom of speech. What do we get from the Left wing media - silence.

When the Left do speak out, it is to attack those who would defend what the Left should be defending - freedom. Anyone who points out Muslim abuses is labeled a racist by the Left.

The Left can't have it both ways. Either they stand by their ideals and oppose Islam's abuses or they give up their ideals. From what I've seen the Left gave up their ideals a long time ago.

Meanwhile, the Islamization of Britain goes on.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Islam - With Islamization taboos grow

Which is why Islam is to be resisted.

Recently the New York Times ran a story which contained this:

"I keep hearing, 'Why are liberals silent?' " said Said al-Ashmawy, an Egyptian judge and author of books on political Islam. "How can we write? Who is going to protect me? Who is going to publish for me in the first place? With the Islamization of the society, the list of taboos has been increasing daily. You should not write about religion. You should not write about politics or women. Then what is left?"

And recently Muslims around the world have been rioting at the cartoons depicting their prophet Muhammad.

As the Times article notes, "the list of taboos has been increasing daily". Here's proof they're right.

MADRID - The Spanish high street store Bershka has recalled its latest collection from its shops all over the world after complaints from some Muslim customers in Dubai.

Bershka’s new range contains a label with a picture of a garden scene and what looks like a mosque or a Middle Eastern palace. The illustration is done in the style of a postcard from an exotic holiday, with handwriting and an arrow pointing to the building and a few hearts.

On the picture is written: "We slept here!!!" Beneath the picture are the words: "New...Collection 2006. Look! Here is where we are... wonderful! Isn’t it!?"

According to the United Arab Emirates newspaper Khaleej Times, some shoppers in the Dubai Bershka complained to the shop assistant about the labels using "images of a mosque mixed with symbols of love and suggestive comments".

You think that's bad? Here in Britain the growing list of Muslim taboos includes for example banned books like Animal Farm, piggy banks, ceramic pigs from butcher shop windows and Piglet too.

I remember when growing up horror movies were all the rage especially vampire ones. People in those movies used mirrors, garlic, silver bullets and wooden stakes to ward off the evil ones. Now all you need is the symbol of a pig. Go figure.

Vatican to Muslims - practise what you preach

About time they spoke up.

Reciprocity -- allowing Christian minorities the same rights as Muslims generally have in Western countries, such as building houses of worship or practising religion freely -- is at the heart of Vatican diplomacy towards Muslim states.

Vatican diplomats argue that limits on Christians in some Islamic countries are far harsher than restrictions in the West that Muslims decry, such as France's ban on headscarves in state schools.

Saudi Arabia bans all public expression of any non-Muslim religion and sometimes arrests Christians even for worshipping privately. Pakistan allows churches to operate but its Islamic laws effectively deprive Christians of many rights.

But the left wing media ignore this.

US - Democrats running out of feet to shoot

Seems every underhanded trick the Democrats pull winds up backfiring.

They tried to cheat in Ohio elections - again but got caught - again.

Then they mounted a campaign to deny Iraq veterans their freedom of speech rights, calling them "un-American".

As Katherine Kersten points out in her article, if Republicans tried this the left wing media would be all over it. But since it's their pals, the Democrats, mums the word.

And as usual the Democrats wind up losing - again.

And if the DFL is trying to stop vets like Stephenson from speaking out, the effort has been counterproductive. Carlson says that more than 300 families have joined Minnesota Families United since the controversy arose.

The Democrats are in a hole and just keep digging. I just hope we can keep giving them more shovels. Faster, please, faster!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

US - MSM have capitulated to the Islamists

The Washington Post reports.

While we may disagree among ourselves about whether and when the public interest justifies the disclosure of classified wartime information, our general agreement and understanding of the First Amendment and a free press is informed by the fact -- not opinion but fact -- that without broad freedom, without responsibility for the right to know carried out by courageous writers, editors, political cartoonists and publishers, our democracy would be weaker, if not nonexistent. There should be no group or mob veto of a story that is in the public interest.

When we were attacked on Sept. 11, we knew the main reason for the attack was that Islamists hated our way of life, our virtues, our freedoms. What we never imagined was that the free press -- an institution at the heart of those virtues and freedoms -- would be among the first to surrender.

Read the whole thing.

US - Democrats caught cheating in Ohio - again

You may remember last year the Democrats paid for an independent investigation into voter fraud in Ohio. That investigation found that indeed there was voter fraud in Ohio - by Democrats!

It found, among other things, that "thousands of false and fraudulent voter-registration cards had been discovered and became the subject of numerous investigations by boards of elections, actions by local law enforcement and many media reports."

"Overwhelmingly," this report said, "these problems were reportedly traced primarily" to four Democratic political allies who supported Mr. Kerry: ACORN, America Coming Together, the AFL-CIO and the NAACP National Voter Fund.

Since it almost worked last time, the Democrats decided to try again in Ohio.

In what Republicans are calling a "high-profile gaffe," a Democrat running for Congress in Ohio's 6th Congressional District has been disqualified from running in the Democratic primary.

State Sen. Charlie Wilson failed to get the minimum number of petition signatures, election officials said on Wednesday.

To qualify for the May 2 primary ballot, Wilson needed 50 signatures of registered Democratic voters, and although he submitted 96 signatures a few days before the filing deadline, only 46 were found to be valid, elections officials said. (Many of the signatures were from Democrats who live outside the 6th District, press reports said.)

Democrats busted again!

German court convicts man for insulting Islam

What did he do? Reuters reports this:

A German court on Thursday convicted a businessman of insulting Islam by printing the word "Koran" on toilet paper and offering it to mosques.

And yet no one says boo when Muslims used the Bible for toilet paper.

UK - BBC censoring the word Muslim

My regular readers have seen me point out the BBC's decision to ban not only the words "terrorist" and "terrorism" but also the words "Muslim" and "Islam". The latter two are now only used by the BBC when portraying Muslims in a positive way. In an email to me the BBC's world affairs reporter, Paul Reynolds, asserts that the BBC is not censoring these words. As a way of proof I offer these two reports on the same incident.

First the BBC.

The suspected head of an anti-Semitic gang which kidnapped, tortured and killed a young French Jew near Paris has been arrested in Ivory Coast.

Youssouf Fofana, 26, is in the custody of French police who went to Ivory Coast to question him. [...]

Mr Fofana, who is of Ivorian origin, is believed to have fled France before police made several arrests last week.

Be sure to read the whole thing and note the horrific manner in which he was tortured and died. Note also that the words "Muslim" and "Islam" do not appear in the BBC piece.

Now, here's the same story as reported by the New York Times.

Mr. Halimi, 23, was kidnapped and held for three weeks while his captors, led by a Muslim immigrant from Ivory Coast, demanded a ransom from his family. He was found on Feb. 13, naked and covered with cigarette burns, near a suburban train station outside Paris, and died on his way to a hospital. [...]

France has struggled to strike a balance between suppressing anti-Semitism within the country's large Muslim community and addressing rising anti-Islamic sentiments in the broader population. The government was widely criticized several years ago for responding sluggishly to an outbreak of anti-Semitic incidents.

[...]

The police found literature linking some suspects in the case to Palestinian and fundamentalist Muslim causes, but Mr. Sarkozy warned against blaming the country's Muslims.

If all you read was the BBC you would be unaware of the Muslim connection. This is how the BBC is covering up for Muslims.

File this under the Case against the BBC.

via Biased BBC.

UPDATE

And let' not forget the the BBC's claim that al Qaeda is a myth.

UPDATE

Still not convinced? Do a search of the BBC website using the word "Muslim". You will get 157 pages or 1,564 hits. After reading the first 7 pages I gave up. The only aricles with any negative references were about Hamza's conviction.

Islam - "So we're all Rushdies now"

Lileks has some thoughts on the media's fear of Muslims.

As it happens, the threat to free speech isn't coming from the government. While we don't doubt that the Patriot Act will be invoked any day now to criminalize dissent and seal up Cindy Sheehan in the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, it should be noted that the people who've suppressed the pictures are the ones who run the big old high-and-mighty mainstream media. Smaller outfits with spines have run them, with less than happy results -- the editor of a college paper in Illinois was suspended for running the Horrid Scribbles of Doom, for example. This hardly means the death of the First Amendment. But add some riots, some flaming fatwas, some imams upping the bounty on the heads of cartoonists, and it has that "chilling effect" we hear so much about when government officials criticize a news story.

So we're all Rushdies now, like it or not? Perhaps. If one cannot draw Muhammad without editors fearing the mob in the lobby, then it's only a matter of time before the idea seeps into the heads of cartoonists everywhere. It's simply not worth it; who needs the aggravation? Who needs the meetings with the community groups, the mandatory sensitivity training, the sinking feeling of finding your picture on a placard in a London protest, next to the sign that says "BEHEAD THOSE WHO ACCUSE US OF BEHEADING."

It will all blow over. The press will get its nerve back, and start investigating whether Jack Abramoff bought Cheney a beer in 1997 and thus impaired his aim in 2006, or something. They'll return to their old brave role: Questioning Authority. Unless it's located in Mecca.

Islam - Women as second class: myth

That's according to this Muslim woman living in Australia.

Nadia might want to visit Saudi Arabia where women can't drive, go out without a male relative and need their husband's permission to report spouse abuse.

Or visit any number of Muslims countries where women are resticted from voting or holding office.

Or, perhaps she should talk to the Taliban who bar women from schools and jobs.

I'm sure a lot of women in arranged marriages would like to talk to Nadia, as would the victims of so called "honour murders".

Guess who's fault this is? Go on, guess. Yep it's our fault.

So who is to blame for the misconceptions about women in Islam today, and for the unsatisfactory reality? To say it is the fault of men or the media is tempting, but simplistic. Islam is not the problem. People have made it the problem.

Sorry, Nadia but the facts speak otherwise.

UN - No torture at Guantanamo

Despite the BBC's best attempts to convince you there is.

"Because, here’s the thing: the United States has never been credibly accused of torturing its prisoners at Guantanamo. Not once. Indeed, the UN report Beeboids are swooning over is about as critical of the base as it’s possible to get, but even here there is no accusation that the U.S. engages in torture. The report, which you can read here [pdf], actually comes across as a protracted whine that the U.S. refused to grant investigators from the twin human rights capitals of Algeria and Pakistan, unmonitored access to its intelligence assets. The word ‘torture’ is used 89 times, though, in connection with the actual treatment Gitmo inmates receive (as opposed to attempts to define the term or explain its meaning), the closest the UN team get to the Any Questions position is to claim that force-feeding of hunger-striking inmates ‘amounts to torture’. (As, some people might say, do chemotherapy, lumber-punches and any other number of painful-but-lifesaving medical procedures.)

However, the point is that no one — not the UN, not Amnesty International, not the Guardian — has ever accused the U.S. of no ifs or buts torture in the way that Any Questions does here."

Be sure and follow the link to the BBC's John Simpson article on Guantanamo. Note that in Simpson's article, he failed to tell his readers the report he cites was written by two lawyers - acting for inmates.

US - Stand up for Denmark!

There is a planned support march on 24 Feb.

"Thank you all who've written. Please be outside the Embassy of Denmark, 3200 Whitehaven Street (off Massachusetts Avenue) between noon and 1 p.m. this Friday, Feb. 24. Quietness and calm are the necessities, plus cheerful conversation. Danish flags are good, or posters reading "Stand By Denmark" and any variation on this theme (such as "Buy Carlsberg/ Havarti/ Lego") The response has been astonishing and I know that the Danes are appreciative. But they are an embassy and thus do not of course endorse or comment on any demonstration. Let us hope, however, to set a precedent for other cities and countries. Please pass on this message to friends and colleagues."

Wish I could be there.

Iraq - Blast damages Shiite 'Golden Mosque'

Remember how Muslims around the world protested when US troops even went near a mosque at the outset of the war? Remember also, how Muslims around the world protested at the alleged desecration of the Koran at Guantanamo (a fabricated story by Newsweek by the way)?

But hey, it's ok if Muslims blow up a mosque and destroy countless Korans. Such is Muslim hypocrisy and so much for the vaunted Muslim unity around the world.

Why aren't Muslims around the world protesting this and calling for Zarqawi's head?

UPDATE 23 Feb 06:19

Instapundit has more and notes:

"If Danish cartoons could create riots worldwide against the defamers of Islam, you'd think that bombing of mosques would create anti-terrorist marches all over."

You'd think that but you'd be wrong.

UPDATE

The Times (UK) reports on why this is a big deal, who may be behind it and why Muslims around the world should be protesting - against al Qaeda.

"It's one of the foremost important shrines in Iraq," said Alastair Northedge, a Professor of Islamic Art and Architecture at the Sorbonne in Paris who has just completed an archaeological survey of Samarra.

"Najaf and Karbala are the two most important shrines in Iraq but only slightly subsidiary to them are the sites in Samarra and Baghdad.

US - Student planned terror attack

Looks like they stopped another one.

A University of Memphis student arrested last September with a pilot's uniform and other flight-training materials in his apartment was preparing for a terrorist attack on the United States, new documents in the case allege.

Mahmoud Maawad was charged with wire fraud and using a false Social Security number, but authorities now say he was visiting online chatrooms and Web sites supporting radical Sunni Muslim organizations and Al Queda leaders in Iraq.

They said an examination of his computer also showed Maawad had searched the Internet for how guns and bombs could be smuggled through airport magnetometers and had used key words such as "car bomb" in other searches.
"It is the United States' position that Mr. Maawad's motivation for fraudulent obtaining the flight training materials is because he was either planning or participating in a potential terrorist event inside the United States," Asst. U.S. Atty. Steve Parker wrote.

We have to do something about this situation.

He has been in the United States illegally since 1999 and has used a phony Social Security number to open bank accounts and enroll in schools, Parker said soon after the arrest.

This comes on the heels of another terror bust in the US.

Not to worry, Simon Jenkins says all this terrorist stuff is made up by Bush and Blair to scare you into doing their bidding.

Such is the danger the Left pose.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

France - Fear of Muslims

Finally, a major newspaper covers the tragic story of Ilan Halimi.

M Halimi, who worked in a telephone shop, died shortly after being found ten days ago naked and bound on a suburban roadside. Police denied any racial aspect in the kidnapping and ransom demands, but on Monday investigators added racial hatred to the kidnapping and murder charges that six men and a woman in police custody are facing. [The Times fails to mention he was tortured, doused with petrol and burned alive. .ed]

The kidnappers are alleged to have referred to M Halimi’s Jewish background in their telephone and e-mail demands to the family for ransom, and one of the young torturers was reported by accomplices to have stubbed out a cigarette on M Halimi’s forehead while voicing his hatred for Jews.

After covering up the hideous details of Halimi's death, the Times for some strange reason throws this into the mix without any proof or source.

France has Europe’s biggest Muslim and biggest Jewish populations. The actions of the gang contrast with a big drop in reported anti-Semitic acts in France over the past year.

If that's true why didn't the Times give us a reference?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Islam - The Muslim divide over the cartoons

Nice to see the New York Times doing its job for a change and reporting on the journalist jailed for publishing the Muhammad cartoons.

And it's also nice to see some Muslims challenging other Muslims.

In a direct challenge to the international uproar over cartoons lampooning the Prophet Muhammad, the Jordanian journalist Jihad Momani wrote: "What brings more prejudice against Islam, these caricatures or pictures of a hostage-taker slashing the throat of his victim in front of the cameras, or a suicide bomber who blows himself up during a wedding ceremony?"

Denmark has done more than expose media and Muslim hypocrisy, it exposed fault lines within the Muslim community. We need to put pressure on those fault lines and allow whatever moderate voice there is to speak out.

Mr. Momani and Mr. Assadi are among 11 journalists in five countries facing prosecution for printing some of the cartoons. Their cases illustrate another side of this conflict, the intra-Muslim side, in what has typically been defined as a struggle between Islam and the West.

The flare-up over the cartoons, first published in a Danish newspaper, has magnified a fault line running through the Middle East, between those who want to engage their communities in a direct, introspective dialogue and those who focus on outside enemies.

And those who want to speak out have a warning for us that we must heed.

Meanwhile the Organization of Islamic Countries wants the EU to enact laws that will slience the Western media.

The Times notes what has been evolving over the last few decades in the Middle East. But as you read this, the exact same applies to Europe over that same time and is starting to repeat itself in the US.

While the cartoons have infuriated Muslims, the regional dynamics underlying the conflict have been evolving for decades, during which leaders have tried to stall the rise of Islamic political appeal by trying to establish themselves as guardians of the faith.

In the end, political analysts around the region say that governments have resorted to the very practices that helped the rise of Islamic political forces in the first place. They have placated the more extreme voices while arresting and silencing more moderate ones.

Finally the Times points out that the cartoons were published by Muslims in Egypt last year and no one rioted. Proving that this entire affair has been manufactured - by Muslims. Pity the Times didn't give credit to bloggers for discovering and pointing that out.

To many journalists, proof that Mr. Momani and Mr. Assadi face charges because of the region's broader political dynamics — and not because of the nature of the cartoons — can be found in Egypt.

After all, Ahmed Abdel Maksoud and Youssra Zahran are free. They are journalists with the Egyptian weekly Al Fajr, one of the first Arab newspapers to publish the cartoons. They wrote a story about the caricatures and reprinted them in October — months before the conflict erupted — to condemn the drawings.

The irony of this seems to escape the Times which still refuses to publish the cartoons.

And there is another lesson here the Times and all the Western media should learn from these other Muslim voices.

"I am telling my people, 'Be rational, think before you go into the streets,' " he said. "Who harms Islam more? This European guy who paints Muhammad or the real Muslim guy who cuts a hostage's head off and says, 'Allah-u akbar?' Who insults our religion, this guy or the European guy?"

Some how that lessons seems to be lost to the Western media.

Here in the UK capitulation to Muslims is rampant and has resulted in a Muslim state within a state where 40% of Muslims want Islamic law enacted in Britain.

Britian, remember Said al-Ashmawy's warning: "With the Islamization of the society, the list of taboos has been increasing daily."

Don't believe him? Here is a growing list of taboos Muslims have banned in Britain. Taboos like, piggy banks, ceramic pigs in butcher shop windows, books like Animal Farm, theaters and museums censored, bill boards banned along with the English flag and Piglett too.

Wake up Britain, wake up.

UK - Communists Plan anti-war march in London

The Communist led anti-war movement is planning an anti-war protest in London.

Most anti-war protests of late have been very poorly attended. It will be interesting to see if these communists link up with Islamists and hijack the current backlash over the Muhammad cartoons. I'm betting that is precisely why the moonbats are staging this now. Since they can't draw the crowds they once did, they need to hijack some protesters from somewhere.

Another interesting aspect might be the appearance of the anti-war crowds patron saint, disgraced MP George Galloway. When he appeared at the Muslim protest last week he was roundly booed.

Of course if you're worried about having the image of Muhammad on your chest but still want to show your support for Denmark and free speech you might like this one better. US - 3 Men Arrested for Terrorist Activity

WTOL News reports.

According to the indictment from the US Attorney's office, the suspects are Mohammad Zaki Amawi, Marwan Othman El-Hindi, and Wassim Mazloum. The indictment says all three are citizens of the United States, and have been living in the Toledo area.

In count 1 of the indictment, prosecutors say the three met together many times, going back as far as November 2005. The three reportedly conspired to recruit and train others for a violent jihad against United States forces and US allies in Iraq. They also reportedly put together the funding needed for the operation, and collected the equipment needed.

Prosecutors also say the three communicated by computer with an individual in the Middle East, passing information about potential attacks and terrorist training materials back and forth, as well as communication about potential weapons and targets.

Iraq - 15 arms caches uncovered

In an operation led by Iraqis.

The operation began with an Iraqi-led cordon and search of a village known to be a safe haven for insurgent and terrorist cells responsible for attacks on oil pipelines and coalition convoys in the area.

With troops from the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division providing security outside the village and U.S. aircraft overhead, soldiers of the 2nd Iraqi Army Brigade moved in. Their door-to-door search quickly led to the capture of the four insurgents.

And then the huge caches were found. Take a look at the list of what they found.

US - Florida paper publishes Muhammad cartoons

Good for them!

The Danish cartoonists are illustrators; they are given assignments by clients who pay them for their work. The Danish Muhammad cartoons are broadly — and wrongly — described as political cartoons by pundits and politicians who don't understand the difference between one kind of cartoonist and another.

The perception of the Danish Muhammad cartoons as "political cartoons" is chilling to real political cartoonists who are suddenly perceived as ticking time bombs that can explode at any time. Editors, who were already uncomfortable reining in their unwieldy, bomb-throwing cartoonists, are now more timid than ever.

Thanks to Muslims.

Islam - Jihad in cyberspace

Michelle has a report on Muslims attacking websites showing the Muhammad cartoons.

Muslim computer-hacker gangs have launched a massive attack on Danish and Western Web sites as part of the mass protests across the Arab world over the publication of cartoons making fun of the Prophet Mohammed.
The cyber-crime monitoring group Zone-H.org said in a statement that more than 1,000 Danish, Israeli and European sites were defaced or shut down by Islamic hackers in the last week.

And experts fear that's just the beginning of what could be a massive cyber-jihad stretching from the Middle East and Europe to the United States and dominating cyberspace for weeks, costing millions of dollars. "We have definitely seen a spike in the number of attacks. This definitely appears to be the result of the controversy over the Prophet Mohammed cartoons," said Jim Melnick of the cyber-security firm iDefense. "A full-blown e-jihad is a real possibility."

So, lets do another Muhammad blogburst.

US - Saddam/Rather: "non-hostile forum"

In trying to attack the White House, the Washington Post lets the mask slip a bit.

Here's what Howard Kurtz let slip while moaning that Fox News got the interview with Cheney.

But Cheney and his strategists seized on what they viewed as a non-hostile forum, figuring every other news outlet would have no choice but to carry excerpts.

Such an approach is hardly unprecedented for public figures on the hot seat. Gary Condit talked to Connie Chung. Monica Lewinsky talked to Barbara Walters. Ken Starr talked to Diane Sawyer. Hugh Grant talked to Jay Leno. Michael Jackson talked to Ed Bradley. Saddam Hussein talked to Dan Rather. James Frey talked to Larry King, before he got smacked around by Oprah.

Got that? Dan Rather and CBS were a "non-hostile forum" for Saddam.

Which would indicate that Cheny made the right decision.

US/UK - Media abandon their journalist brothers

Just as Hollywood abondoned Van Gogh, the media are abondoning their journalist brothers.

Tim Blair reports:

"Thirteen publications are closed following their Danish cartoon displays. At least twelve journalists face charges. Seven are in prison:

Reporters Without Borders calls on everyone to take a stand in support of the imprisoned journalists, who were simply doing their job and passing on news that made headlines around the world.

Most media organisations have taken a stand by boldly running away. Which is odd, considering how hot for tales of repression the media has been during these blighted years of the Illegal Smirkler Regime (dissidents jailed! Mao-reading students probed!). Actually, the media is still hot for repression sagas, of a particular type. The latest involves a hideous 18-hour delay for information on Dick Cheney’s Texas-wide murder spree. About which, here’s Mark Steyn:

Given that the media’s spent the last two weeks telling the public why they don’t need to see these Danish cartoons, it’s hard to take them seriously as sudden converts to the public’s right to know every detail, if only when it comes to minor hunting accidents."

Islam - "Because they hate"

At least all non-Muslims.

We gather here today to share information and knowledge. Intelligence is not merely cold hard data about numerical strength or armament or disposition of military forces. The most important element of intelligence has to be understanding the mindset and intention of the enemy. The West has been wallowing in a state of ignorance and denial for thirty years as Muslim extremist perpetrated evil against innocent victims in the name of Allah.

I was ten years old when my home exploded around me, burying me under the rubble and leaving me to drink my blood to survive, as the perpetrators shouted “Allah Akbar!” My only crime was that I was a Christian living in a Christian town. At 10 years old, I learned the meaning of the word "infidel."

I had a crash course in survival. Not in the Girl Scouts, but in a bomb shelter where I lived for seven years in pitch darkness, freezing cold, drinking stale water and eating grass to live. At the age of 13 I dressed in my burial clothes going to bed at night, waiting to be slaughtered. By the age of 20, I had buried most of my friends--killed by Muslims. We were not Americans living in New York, or Britons in London. We were Arab Christians living in Lebanon.

As a victim of Islamic terror, I was amazed when I saw Americans waking up on September 12, 2001, and asking themselves "Why do they hate us?" The psychoanalyst experts were coming up with all sort of excuses as to what did we do to offend the Muslim World. But if America and the West were paying attention to the Middle East they would not have had to ask the question. Simply put, they hate us because we are defined in their eyes by one simple word: "infidels."

Read the whole thing.

And here is how they treat infidels in Saudi Arabia. Not to mention their barbaric treatment of women.

Italy - al Qaeda re-grouping

From UPI.

WASHINGTON, Feb. 18 (UPI) -- Al-Qaida's biggest ally in Africa is faltering in its efforts to transform the Sahara into an Afghanistan-style terror haven. But a critical mass of operatives has emerged in Italy, with ample resources and a broad shadow network primed to strike civilians across Europe.

Three Algerian members of the Salafist Group for Call and Combat, an Algeria-based terror group cited on the U.S. State Department's list of foreign terror organizations, were arrested last December by authorities in southern Italy and charged with planning attacks on civilians, according to Interior Minister Giuseppe Pisanu.

More than $22 million was reportedly found in a vehicle used by the cell, which was preparing to target ships, stadiums and railway stations in a bid to trump the Sept. 11, 2001 al-Qaida attacks against the United States.

Phone conversations intercepted by police contained discussions to kill "at least 10,000 people and blow up a vessel "as big as the Titanic," Pisanu said, a plot foretold by a GSPC statement four days after the 2001 attack, pledging its commitment to Osama bin-Laden's terror franchise and threatening to harm "the interests of European countries and the U.S."

But according to Simon Jenkins there is no threat. Such is the danger of terrorism deniers.

US-based Deeyah is due in London next month to promote a new single and video, released tomorrow. But the track "What Will It Be?" has already outraged hardline Islamists here as it promotes women's rights.

UK - Why blogs are important

The exposing of Dan Rather and CBS's lame attempt to use forged documents to smear Bush and alter the outcome of the US Presidential election, is a great example of why blogs are important.

Another great blog incident was exposing the Guardians use of a Muslim terror sympathizer to write a sympathetic artilce on the 7/7 Muslim terrorists as in The Aslam Affair.

Harry's Place has another fine example.

I've been somewhat successful in getting my friends to read my blog often. When I chide others they say they just don't have enough time. I reply they seem to have enough time to watch the BBC or read a newspaper. All I'm asking is they use a better source.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

US - When fear cows the media

At least one US newspaper has the guts to admit that it is afraid to publish the Muhammad cartoons.

''Our primary reason," the editors confessed, is ''fear of retaliation from . . . bloodthirsty Islamists who seek to impose their will on those who do not believe as they do . . . Simply stated, we are being terrorized, and . . . could not in good conscience place the men and women who work at the Phoenix and its related companies in physical jeopardy. As we feel forced, literally, to bend to maniacal pressure, this may be the darkest moment in our 40-year-publishing history."

And by showing their fear they breed more of the same. Cowards.

Like the Nazis in the 1930s and the Soviet communists in the Cold War, the Islamofascists are emboldened by appeasement and submissiveness. Give the rampagers and book-burners a veto over artistic and editorial decisions, and you end up not with heightened sensitivity and cultural respect, but with more rampages and more books burned. You betray ideals that generations of Americans have died to defend.

And worse than that: You betray as well the dissidents and reformers within the Islamic world, the Muslim Sakharovs and Sharanskys and Havels who yearn for the free, tolerant, and democratic culture that we in the West take for granted. What they want to see from America is not appeasement and apologies and a dread of giving offense. They want to see us face down the fanatics, be unintimidated by bullies. They want to know that in the global struggle against Islamist extremism, we won't let them down.

But we and the British media are letting them down. So, here are the cartoons.

Iran vows to continue execution of minors

European media wet their pants when America executes convicted murderes but are silent when Muslim countries do this.

Tehran, Iran, Feb. 18 – A judge at Tehran’s Appellate Court announced on Saturday that the Islamic Republic would continue to issue death verdicts for juvenile delinquents “without considering other available options”.

“Execution sentences will be issued to minors without considering other options”, Ahmad Mozaffari told the state-run news agency ILNA.

Mozaffari made the comments after Iranian courts issued execution sentences to a 15 year old and 16 year old, the report said.

The judge said one minor was sentenced to execution recently, despite the fact that examination by a government-appointed physician had shown that he was suffering from a psychiatric disorder.

State-run press have identified the 15-year-old on death row only by his first name Mohammad.

US - Democrats, MSM and Left wing blogs

All united to stop veterans of the Iraq war from exercising their freedom of speech rights.

This is how the left "supports" our troops.

Events this past week in Minnesota provide a graphic illustration of the crossover among the Internet's nutty left, the mainstream media, and the heart of the Democratic Party. We think this is one of the most important stories of the past week.

Yes it is, so read the whole thing.

Islam - Muslims to lecture EU on tolerance

I kid you not.

So the representatives of such enlightened and progressive governments as Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, and Malaysia, are going to give advice to the Europeans on what laws they should pass in their own countries.

The OIC member states expect from the EU to identify Islamophobia as a dangerous phenomenon and to observe and combat it like in the cases of xenophobia and anti-Semitism, by creating suitable observance mechanisms and revising its legislation.

So the deal is that the Europe, which already bans incitement to, and practice of, race hatred, should now ban any criticism of others' religions as well. On the other hand, the Islamic countries, who have always criticized the other religions, will still continue to preach race hatred, especially towards the Jooos. Sounds fair enough to me.

Nice to see people standing up for free speech.

Turkey - al Qaeda plot to sink cruise ship

This is what Simon Jenkins calls a "trivial crime".

He showed up in Antalya last summer with tens of thousands of dollars in cash and a face altered by plastic surgery. After his arrest, he told investigators he had planned to die steering a yacht laden with explosives into a cruise ship he believed was filled with U.S. soldiers and which was already approaching across the turquoise Mediterranean.

The attack, just 48 hours away when the chemicals ignited, was intended to crown a wide-ranging career in terrorism. Sakka played a role in the so-called millennium plot to attack hotels in Amman, Jordan, on Dec. 31, 1999. Turkish prosecutors also describe him as the planner of the 2003 truck bombings that killed 57 people in Istanbul, financed with $160,000 in al Qaeda funds.

This is why terrorism deniers like Jenkins are dangerous.

Islam - Be a Dane for a day

This is something bloggers should join with a blogburst.

So what can we poor Americans to do except hold another “Multicultural Appreciation Day?” Here’s what I would suggest.

In order to put some backbone in the press for the trials ahead, let’s pick a day—I nominate February 28th, two weeks from today—in which every newspaper in America and every TV news station in America will display the offending cartoons. For the faint-hearted there’ll be safety in numbers. It will inform the public and restore our self-respect. It certainly won’t ingratiate us with world of Islam, but what’s the difference? At least they’ll know they’re facing a united front.

When the Germans overran Denmark during World War II, they immediately announced that all Jews must wear the yellow star. Instead of cowering in their homes, every man, woman and child in the country donned a yellow star, including the King of Denmark. It seems only fitting that we return the favor.

And if you’re planning to bomb The American Enterprise offices in retaliation for this column, please don’t bother. I hardly ever set foot in the place. I live at 430 4th Street in Brooklyn, right around the corner from the ice cream storeowner who was just sentenced to 18 years for smuggling $11 million to terrorists in the Middle East and two doors up from a fireman who was killed on September 11th. I’m home every day.

I think every blogger should be a Dane for a day and publish the cartoons on 28 Feb. While we're at it, we should challenge the Lefty bloggers, who have remained rather silent on the issue so far, to publish them.

UK - Muslim state within a state

And it's already here.

Dr Sookhdeo adds that he believes that "in a decade, you will see parts of English cities which are controlled by Muslim clerics and which follow, not the common law, but aspects of Muslim sharia law.

"It is already starting to happen - and unless the Government changes the way it treats the so-called leaders of the Islamic community, it will continue."

Ideed it is as you can plainly see here.

And it's getting worse.

"Rather, concentrate Muslim presence in a particular area until you are a majority in that area, so that the institutions of the local community come to reflect Islamic structures. The education system will be Islamic, the shops will serve only halal food, there will be no advertisements showing naked or semi-naked women, and so on."

That plan, says Dr Sookhdeo, is being followed in Britain. "That is why you are seeing areas which are now almost totally Muslim. The next step will be pushing the Government to recognise sharia law for Muslim communities - which will be backed up by the claim that it is "racist" or "Islamophobic" or "violating the rights of Muslims" to deny them sharia law.

"There's already a Sharia Law Council for the UK. The Government has already started making concessions: it has changed the law so that there are sharia-compliant mortgages and sharia pensions.

40% of Muslims in the UK say they want sharia law in Britain.

And the government is taking advice from Muslims who want to accelerate the plan.

"Take, for example, Tariq Ramadan, whom the Government has appointed as an adviser because ministers think he is a 'community leader'. Ramadan sounds, in public, very moderate. But in reality, he has some very extreme views. He attacks liberal Muslims as 'Muslims without Islam'. He is affiliated to the violent and uncompromising Muslim Brotherhood.

"He calls the education in the state schools of the West 'aggression against the Islamic personality of the child'. He has said that 'the Muslim respects the laws of the country only if they do not contradict any Islamic principle'. He has added that 'compromising on principles is a sign of fear and weakness'."

And there are other dangerous Muslim voices whispering in Blair's ear.

There is no doubt that all of this is true in Britain today.

What does he say we should do about it?

"Second, the Government should say no to faith-based schools, because they are a block to integration. There should be no compromise over education, or over English as the language of education. The policy of political multiculturalism should be reversed.

You got that right.

Even some prominent Muslims are calling for the same thing.

I'll keep saying it, the Danes did the world a great service.
