Al-Sadr says militia will leave Najaf mosque

Notice how CNN and The BBC report this story differently.

From CNN

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Radical Shiite Muslim cleric Muqtada al-Sadr announced Wednesday his militia would leave the Imam Ali Shrine in Najaf, following a threat by the Iraqi government to "liberate" the holy site.

In a letter issued by al-Sadr's office in Baghdad and read to the Iraqi National Conference, the cleric said he agreed to demands made Tuesday night by a delegation from the conference that he and his forces leave the mosque, disband his Mehdi Army and "enter into the mainstream political process."

And now from The BBC

Iraq cleric offers to end revolt

Radical Shia cleric Moqtada Sadr has offered to end an uprising in the Iraqi holy city of Najaf.

However, Mr Sadr says there must be a truce before his Mehdi militia will leave the Imam Ali shrine and disarm.

Fighting is continuing in Najaf, where Mr Sadr's forces have battled US-led troops for nearly two weeks.

So the CNN report is at fault for failing to report the caveats within his acceptance and the fact that in the meantime the situation is unchanged?

Good job I didn't believe CNN wasn't it? Thank God for the BBC.
