America - Airlines' Voluntary Relief Effort Begins

The Guardian reports good news on the relief efforts?

WASHINGTON (AP) - Relief flights donated by airlines began to fly into Louis Armstrong International Airport in New Orleans at a rate of about four an hour, beginning midday Friday.

Transportation Department spokesman Greg Martin said the planes will be bringing in supplies and leaving with people. Most of the flights will take refugees to Lackland Air Force Base in Texas.

Please help the victims of the Katrina disaster by donating to the Red Cross Katrina relief fund. Their donation page is here.

NZ Bear is keeping track of which blog people contributed through, and if you have the time please stop by there and register your donation.

Thanks.
