Iraq - mopping up terrorists

The world press are always quick to point out the success of the terrorists in Iraq, rarely are we provided with the other side of the story.

This for example.

BAGHDAD -- Today, Multi-National Forces (MNF) discovered and cleared nine improvised explosive devices and eight weapons caches. MNF also conducted six cordon and searches of suspected Anti-Iraqi Forces (AIF) facilities and detained 63 suspected AIF.

A local Iraqi citizen reported the location of an improvised explosive device to authorities in Baqubah. An explosive ordnance disposal team was called in to defuse the explosive. A cordon and search operation in Samarra netted a weapons cache consisting of several AK-47 rifles.

Multi-National Forces conducting four cordon and searches in Fallujah discovered two large weapons caches and detained 13 suspected AIF personnel. A weapons cache was also discovered near Abu Ghraib by a Multi-National Force patrol. Cordon and search operations in Sadah and Hit yielded eight detainees.

In Baghdad, Multi-National Forces and Iraqi National Guard personnel conducted multiple cordon and search operations leading to the apprehension of 14 AIF personnel. A small weapons cache was confiscated and destroyed in Taji. Cordon and search operations in the southern Iraqi city of An Numaniyah yielded the capture of six suspected AIF personnel and a small weapons cache.
