Al Qaida plan to kidnap government officials

Is this Al Qaida's new strategy?

The Daily Times reports "Pakistani intelligence agencies have discovered that jihadis (religious warriors) are planning to kidnap senior government officials, ministers and National and Provincial Assembly members to pressure the government to accept their demands, sources told Daily Times on Friday."

The USA Today reports "A flurry of hectic phone calls between Islamic radicals led German authorities to arrest three Iraqis suspected of planning to attack Iraqi Prime Minister Ayad Allawi while he visited Germany on Friday."

The Turkish Press reports "Anti-terror police in Istanbul detained 12 people believed to be Chechen militants ahead of an official visit to Turkey Sunday and Monday by Russian President Vladimir Putin, police and media reports said."
