Sixty people turned up in Washington last March to protest against the war. CNN covered this important event. But no mention by CNN of this:
Thousands lined Portland’s Congress Street on Friday to cheer for the state’s servicemen, its emergency workers and the NFL champion New England Patriots.
Billed as the city’s biggest ticker-tape parade, the event featured hundreds of soldiers, sailors and other members of the military marching in front of an enthusiastic crowd, estimated at 30,000.
Onlookers bellowed excitedly as each contingent of soldiers paraded into view. The marchers were met by shredded paper, a multitude of small U.S. flags and signs that read: “Welcome Home Heroes” and “America Rocks!"
And you won't find any mention of this welcome home in WAUKEGAN.
About 400 Marine reservists, including more than 100 based in Waukegan, came home from Iraq on Saturday.
A huge homecoming party was held for the troops Saturday afternoon at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont. [...]
Bands performed and prominent guests, including Lake County's two representatives to Congress — Mark Kirk, R-Highland Park, and Melissa Bean, D-Barrington — Illinois Lt. Gov. Patrick Quinn and some Chicago radio personalities were on hand, Leone said.
Among the bands were the Tossers, described as an Irish punk band, Blackmaker and the Siderunners. Cheerleaders for the Rush arena football team also were on hand.
The party was for 2nd Battalion Marines in Weapons Company, based in Waukegan, and in Headquarters and Headquarters Company, based in Chicago.
Reporting these homecomings is counter to MSM's stand against the war in Iraq. So what happened to we don't support the war but we support the troops? Just more hot air like Peter Arnet and Eason Jordon.
