The Detroit Free Press, for instance, quotes her as saying in a Nov. 22,1969, Michigan State University speech: "I would think that if you understood what communism was, you would hope, you would pray on your knees that we would someday become Communist."
On July 18, 1970, the People's World, the West Coast's Communist Party publication, carried a telephone interview with Fonda in which she said: "To make the revolution in the United States is a slow day by day job that requires patience and discipline. It is the only way to make it. . . . All I know is that despite the fact that I am one of the people who benefit from a capitalist society, I find that any system which exploits other people cannot and should not exist."
So how does Hanoi Jane feel about Iraq?
On the Letterman Show, she was asked how she felt about the current Iraq conflict. She responded, "I think the war is wrong. I think it's a mistake and I think that we should get out." This was said the same day Iraqi Shia leader Ibrahim Jaafari was named prime minister of the country's new interim government and shortly after Kurdish leader Jalal Talabani was sworn in as Iraq's new interim president. The first freely-elected heads of government in Iraq in 50 years.
According to Hanoi Jane, that's "wrong" and a "mistake". All of which leads LL to note:
Jane Fonda hasn’t changed one bit and don't you let her tell you otherwise. And don't buy her damned book either.
Or her workout videos or go see her movies, etc. etc.
LL has lots more reasons, so read the rest.
