But that's not exactly accurate and even though the AFP use that misleading headline they admit she did not use the term "fundamentalism".
While she did not specifically refer to fundamentalism, she spoke of "these people for whom religion is their entire lives".
The AFP is trying to put words in the Queen's mouth. The Queen could not eaquate fundamentalism with people who devote their entire lives to religion because to do so would be equating people like the Pope to Islamic fundamentalists.
Here is what the Queen said.
"We have to show our opposition to Islam and we have to, at times, run the risk of having unflattering labels placed on us because there are some things for which we should display no tolerance," she said.
Sounds plain enough to me and I think she knew exactly what she was saying. As a result, I doubt she will be riding her bike around town anymore. To do so would risk the fate of Van Gogh, a Dutch filmmaker critical of Islam.
Theo van Gogh, a descendant of the brother of 19th century Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh, was gunned down as he cycled to work in Amsterdam on Nov. 2. He begged for mercy but prosecutors say the accused shot and stabbed him before slashing his throat.
Ahh, Islam, the religion of peace.
