Ghassan and Bayan Elashi and their company were found guilty of all 21 federal counts they faced: conspiracy, money laundering and dealing in property of a terrorist. Basman Elashi, who faced the same counts, was convicted of three counts of conspiracy but acquitted of the other charges.
Turns out Ghassan Elashi has an interesting background. Ghassan has a long history of association with CAIR or the Council on American-Islamic Relations. And as Front Page points out, CAIR has many connections to terrorism.
In September of 2001, just following the worst terrorist attack ever suffered in modern history, CAIR placed on its website, under a picture of the World Trade Center in flames, a plea for donations. It read, “Donate to the NY/DC Emergency Relief Fund.”
Yet, when people clicked on the link, it did not take them to any NY/DC Emergency Relief Fund. No, it took them straight to the website of the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development, an Islamic ‘charity’ that was soon to be shut down by the United States for “raising millions of dollars annually for HAMAS.”
CAIR was funneling money to Hamas and so was Ghassan Elashi. In fact, Ghassan was chairman of the Holy Land Foundation, before the group’s closure and Elashi was one of the founding board members of CAIR’s Texas chapter.
As Front Page points out, CAIR is "an entity masquerading as a ‘civil rights’ organization". It's long past time to shut CAIR down.
