Cost of Illegal Immigration Rising Rapidly in Arizona, Study Finds

How much is it costing the nation.

Arizona’s illegal immigrant population is costing the state’s taxpayers even more than once thought -- a whopping $2.7 billion, according to researchers at the public interest group that helped write the state's new immigration law.

Saudi woman beats up virtue cop

Good for her.

It was a scene Saudi women’s rights activists have dreamt of for years.

When a Saudi religious policeman sauntered about an amusement park in the eastern Saudi Arabian city of Al-Mubarraz looking for unmarried couples illegally socializing, he probably wasn’t expecting much opposition.

But when he approached a young, 20-something couple meandering through the park together, he received an unprecedented whooping.

Nice to see American feminists standing up for their sisters rights. Heh, what's that? Oh, my bad, American feminists don't care about Muslim women.

Press Freedom, Sure. But No Questions.

What an empty suit Obama is.

There was some rich irony at the White House today -- President Obama signed the Press Freedom Act, and then promptly refused to take any questions.

The new law expands the State Department's annual human rights reports to include a description of press freedoms in each country. It seemed a good opportunity to showcase press freedom in this country.

You'd think.

The Jawa Report: Death To Israel: UCSD MSA Jumanah Imad Albahri Has A Blog

They can run but they can't hide.

Andrew Breitbart told us so about Andrew McLaughlin

But is anybody listening?

Andrew Breitbart’s BigGovernment.com originally blew the lid off of White House Deputy CTO’s secret lobbying for Google from within the White House. He’s been vindicated, and can claim a partial scalp, for McLaughlin now receiving a reprimand for this misbehavior.

It’s now undeniably on the record that the former Google employee was abusing his White House position. What we don’t know are the depths he sunk to. Fortunately Rep. Darrell Issa, the man who brought down Gray Davis, is on the case to probe further.

Muslims in NYC Planning to Build Second, Smaller Mosque Near Ground Zero

The fact that Muslims are even considering doing this, tells you all you need to know.

As controversy surrounds the construction of a 13-story mosque just two blocks from Ground Zero, FOX News has learned that an effort to place a second mosque close to the hallowed site in New York City is in its advanced stages.

The Masjid Mosque has raised $8.5 million and is seeking an additional $2.5 million to begin construction. While it apparently has not settled on a final location, it has told donors it plans to build very close to where 3,000 people were killed in the September 11 terror attacks.

In fact, the website appealing for donations boldly states that it plans to “build the 'House of Allah' next to the World Trade Center. Help us raise the flag of 'LA ILLAH ILLA ALLAH' in downtown Manhattan."

Facebook users targeted in 'sexiest video ever' malware scam

Be wary.

Facebook users have been warned about a scam which encourages you to click on a link leading to the 'sexiest video ever', but in fact installs malware on the computer.

Thousands of users on the social networking site have been targeted by the new scam which posts a link to a video on a user's newsfeed, addressing the user by name, and then leads to an installation program.

The link reads: 'This is without doubt the sexiest video ever! :P :P :P' and is accompanied by a video entitled 'Candid Camera Prank [HQ]', featuring shots of a busty woman in a bikini and short skirt.

Sen. Fred Thompson's new book is out: Teaching the Pig to Dance

Britain's true national debt at 2 trillion pounds!

Brown lied. What a shocker.

On the national debt, the independent Institute for Fiscal Studies said yesterday that public debt could double from Labour's official figure of £890billion to a staggering £ 1.79trillion (£1,790billion), once the massive bill for public-sector pensions plus schools and hospitals built under Mr Brown's cherished 'private finance initiative' is taken into account.

A Daily Mail analysis today suggests the final figure could be higher still, at £2.24trillion. Carl Emmerson, of the institute, said 25 per cent cuts would be necessary in government departments outside those being protected by the coalition - the NHS and overseas aid.

Video - Napolitano Admits She Hasn't Read Arizona Law But Says She Wouldn't Sign It

Has anyone in the Obama administration read it?

What does this say about America's security, when the DHS hasn't even read the law protecting our southern border?

Blumenthal’s Words Differ From His History

Interesting how the left are always against the military until they want to use us for their own ends.

Love that headline. Is this a new way of saying he's lying?

“We have learned something important since the days that I served in Vietnam,” Mr. Blumenthal said to the group gathered in Norwalk in March 2008. “And you exemplify it. Whatever we think about the war, whatever we call it — Afghanistan or Iraq — we owe our military men and women unconditional support.”

There was one problem: Mr. Blumenthal, a Democrat now running for the United States Senate, never served in Vietnam. He obtained at least five military deferments from 1965 to 1970 and took repeated steps that enabled him to avoid going to war, according to records.

Update: Blumenthal isn't the first to lie about serving in Vietnam. Fellow Democrat Harkin did so as well.

CBS News' Bob Schieffer: Obama Preparing for Specter Loss

Obama says he doesn't want to be associated with Specter loss. Too late!

Boycotters getting a taste of their own medicine

This is so counter productive for all concerned.

San Diego is already beginning to feel the sting of fewer tourists after it voted to vindictively boycott Arizona...for daring to enforce existing immigration laws (see here and here).

"I've been approached by a number of hotels who are very concerned because they’ve received cancellations from Arizona guests," said Namara Mercer, executive director of the county Hotel-Motel Association.

Cartoon of the day

The country is in the best of hands.

The Crippling Price of Public Employee Unions

is getting worse.

The American public feels it is drowning in red ink. It is dismayed and even outraged at the burgeoning national deficits, unbalanced state and local budgets, and accounting that often masks the extent of indebtedness. There is a mounting sense that taxpayers are being taken for an expensive ride by public sector unions. The extraordinary benefits the unions have secured for their members are going to be harder and harder to pay.

16 illegals sue Arizona rancher - Washington Times

They're here illegally and therefore have one right - deportation.

An Arizona man who has waged a 10-year campaign to stop a flood of illegal immigrants from crossing his property is being sued by 16 Mexican nationals who accuse him of conspiring to violate their civil rights when he stopped them at gunpoint on his ranch on the U.S.-Mexico border.

Roger Barnett, 64, began rounding up illegal immigrants in 1998 and turning them over to the U.S. Border Patrol, he said, after they destroyed his property, killed his calves and broke into his home.

His Cross Rail Ranch near Douglas, Ariz., is known by federal and county law enforcement authorities as "the avenue of choice" for immigrants seeking to enter the United States illegally.

States siding with Arizona

are growing.

According to Rasmussen, the majority of voters in Pennsylvania, Colorado, Florida and Ohio are now standing with Arizona in its fight to enforce the most lenient immigration laws on the planet. Ten states are also now considering similar legislation.

Only the most radical pro-amnesty state of them all, California (which, not coincidentally, is also the 4th most bankrupt), opposes it.

Meanwhile, 70% of voters in Massachusetts favor a complete ban on public benefits for illegal immigrants and twice as many voters nationwide reject the left's violent, tantrum-throwing race hysterics as those who support them.

As I have noted, immigration is simply not a winning issue for the left. Like most issues, the overwhelming majority of Americans consistently reject what Democrats want and agree with the Tea Party movement.

Freedom of speech must be defended, even for homophobes

Yes, it must.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has dropped all charges against homophobic Christian street preacher, Dale McAlpine, shortly after gay rights campaigner Peter Tatchell offered to testify in defence of his right to free speech.

Mr McAlpine, 42, was arrested in a street in Workington on 20 April, after condemning homosexuality as a sin. He was charged with using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress, contrary to the Public Order Act 1986.

Britain used to be a bastion of free speech and there was a time when anyone could put out a soap box and say whatever they wanted. Thanks to the pc brigade, that is no longer the case. I hope Cameron recinds this act.

New UK Govt To Face Allegation That London Hosts Hamas

Now with the far left Labour government gone, maybe we can get some of this mess cleaned up.

The newly elected British government will have a new challenge on its hands: How to cope with credible intelligence reports which provide hard evidence that Great Britain provides a safe haven for the Iranian and Saudi sponsored Hamas terrorist organization, which is in the throes of preparing another round of aerial attacks on southern Israel, from its terror bases in Gaza.

There's a reason London is called Londonistan.

Chuck Norris : Lambs to the Slaughter, Part 1

Right now, Washington is scheming and scamming to erode and then erase the Second Amendment from our Constitution.

And it will accomplish it through the signing of international treaties on gun control, bypassing the normal legislative process in Congress, tightening regulations upon firearm and ammunition manufacturers, using the anti-gun financing of tycoons and ultimately confiscating all firearms under the guise of terrorism patrol and enforcement. Without public debate and cloaked in secrecy, gun control covertly will come upon us like a thief in the night. One day, we will wake up to discover that the U.S. has signed a global treaty that will prohibit any transfer of firearm ownership, force reductions in the number of firearms privately owned and eventually eradicate the planet of guns for law-abiding citizens. Of course, the criminals still will have their guns illegally. And on that day, if you do not comply with that global treaty, you will be fined and face imprisonment. This is not a fictitious story or false warning. As sure as government health care has been shoved down our throats, so will the barrels of our guns. And left with little defense, we will go as lambs to the slaughter.

Barbour officially enters lawsuit against Obamacare

That's 19 states now.

JACKSON – As promised, Gov. Haley Barbour has joined a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the new health care legislation passed earlier this year by Congress and signed into law by President Barack Obama.

Barbour officially joined the lawsuit Friday.

“The health care law ... is an unprecedented expansion of federal power,” Barbour said in a prepared statement. “The Constitution does not give Congress or the federal government the authority to force every American to purchase health insurance.”

Ray Guns Near Crossroads to the Battlefield

The Pentagon ramps up efforts to field directed-energy beam weapons for land, air and sea

After more than a century of popular sci-fi fantasies that feature deadly energy weapons, including War of the Worlds, Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers, Star Trek and Star Wars, it looks like the ray gun has finally arrived in the real world.

Robotic Pancreas: One Man’s Quest to Put Millions of Diabetics on Autopilot

Faster please.

So began phase II of Brewer’s life. He would become advocate-in-chief for bringing to market a breakthrough technology that has been promised for decades: a fully automated, self-regulating artificial organ — mechanical and electronic rather than biological — that would sense blood-sugar levels continuously and release just the right amount of insulin at just the right time without the need for any action, or even awareness, on the patient’s part. Good-bye to many-times-daily blood tests. Farewell to insulin injections containing back-of-the-napkin dosages and inevitable hours of feeling ill. Good riddance to the risk of slipping into unconsciousness and an untimely death. Brewer would start the race to build a technological fix for diabetes. The biggest obstacle? Bureaucratic logjams.

Five Years In, YouTube Is Now Streaming Two Billion Views Per Day

“nearly double the prime-time audience of all three major US television networks combined”

It’s hard to believe, but it’s been five years since YouTube launched and changed the way people share video online (it was acquired by Google a year and a half later). To celebrate its birthday, YouTube has just announced a major new milestone: it’s streaming a whopping two billion views per day (the company notes that this is “nearly double the prime-time audience of all three major US television networks combined”).

Which is why Obama wants to regulate the internet.

Allawi holds on to 'win' after Iraqi poll recount

But not by much.

A CROSS-SECTARIAN coalition led by secularist former prime minister Iyad Allawi held its two-seat win in Iraq's 7 March election after a recount of votes cast in Baghdad, election officials said yesterday.

But the poll victory of Mr Allawi's Sunni-backed Iraqiya bloc, confirmed by an 11-day recount of 2.5 million votes cast in the Iraqi capital, stood on shaky ground as Iraq's two major Shiite coalitions have already announced an alliance to form the
largest bloc in parliament.

President Clinton Stumps for Critz in PA-12

Seat formerly held by Murtha.

WASHINGTON - Democratic Congressional Candidate Mark Critz, running to replace the late Congressman John Murtha, brought in the big guns on Sunday to encourage voters to go to the polls Tuesday in Pennsylvania's 12th District special election. Former President Bill Clinton joined Critz in Johnstown, Pa., the hometown of Murtha, to rally voters out for Critz, "Think of every person you will pass between now and the polls closing. Don't pass them, say something to them tell them to vote, tell them to vote for Mark."

Climategate Taxpayer Fraud Investigation Draws Ideological Heat

Climategate isn't going away.

Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli has used the power of government to seek documents from the University of Virginia regarding its former professor and Climategate figure of "hockey stick" fame, Michael Mann. Mr. Cuccinelli is investigating whether Professor Mann engaged in fraud to obtain taxpayer money to fund his research.

Who is Michael Posner, and why is he apologizing to China?

"Answer: Michael Posner is the former head agitator at the transnationalist Human Rights First,..."

Answer: Michael Posner is the former head agitator at the transnationalist Human Rights First, who represents the textbook State Department mindset of pandering to the worst America-bashers without hesitation or shame. Foggy Bottom isn’t just stuck on stupid. It’s stuck on American self-sabotage.

Longtime readers of this blog will recall that Posner had a significant role in the attempted George Soros-ization of Ground Zero in 2005.

Vatican details sex abuse defense in key US case; bishops aren't employees

"...saying bishops are not its employees"

VATICAN CITY (AP) — The Vatican on Monday will make its most detailed defense yet against claims that it is liable for U.S. bishops who allowed priests to molest children, saying bishops are not its employees and that a 1962 Vatican document did not require them to keep quiet, The Associated Press has learned.

Barack Obama's FCC Information Police

"What "information" must Americans fear?"

The truth seems to be what Obama fears.

To further corrupt the meaning of "balance," even after admitting that "no matter how the data is analyzed" conservative talk dominates "over and over again," the CAP report implied that talk radio balance means half conservative, half progressive programming. This is instructive. Although twice as many Americans self-identify as conservative versus liberal, the liberal meaning of balance mutates from allotment according to real-life proportions to equal market share. Armed with any redefinitions required, FCC Chief Diversity Officer Lloyd is now in a position to rebalance political talk radio.

BREAKING: Fake Tea Party Run by Democrats in Michigan Trying to Become official Third Party!

Remember how the Democrats try to downplay the teaparty?

Zarko Research has now verified through technical means that Progressive Campaigns Inc. (PCI) has been hired to collect signatures to put on the ballot a "Tea Party" party.

Progressive ... has been funded by Soros, the Michigan Democratic Party, and is most recently known for the crude attempt to re-game the Michigan Constitution for the Democratic Party in 2008 through the Reform Michigan Government Now petition, which also operated initially for its first several weeks as a "stealth petition" (a petition that does not go through the Board of Canvasser approval process before circulation, but rolls the dice and operates quietly as long as possible).

White House Allowed BP to Keep Video of Gushing Pipe from Public for Three Weeks

It's great to see many on the left admitting they were rubes for backing Obama.

The revelation that the White House and BP kept the true extent of the oil disaster from the public coincides nicely with last night’s news that Obama plans to get "angry" in front of the White House press corps tomorrow about BP’s role in the disaster and its clean up. Don’t be fooled, though. The evidence is mounting that the White House is working in concert with industry to hide the truth about the extent and cause of the spill.

Oops! Too late, that ship has sailed and you clowns stuck America with Obama for four years. How much more damage do you think Obama will do in his few remaining years?

Health reform threatens to cram already overwhelmed emergency rooms

Just as we said it would.

The new healthcare law will pack 32 million newly insured people into emergency rooms already crammed beyond capacity, according to experts on healthcare facilities.

Arnold Schwarzenegger calls for state welfare to be ended in California

All around the world people are waking up to the fact that socialism doesn't work.

CALIFORNIA Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has compared his state's financial crisis to that of Greece and called for scrapping the state welfare system to close a $19.1 billion budget gap.

He said the US state, with an economy that ranks as the eighth largest in the world, faced the same budget deficit crisis as eurozone countries such as Greece, Spain and Ireland.

Last century saw the defeat of communism. Will we see the defeat of socialism this one?

'Holy Grail' cancer vaccine that blasts tumours in weeks hailed as huge leap in fighting disease

This is huge. We could now have a vaccine that can target a tumour and kill it without damage to surrounding healthy tissues or cells.

'In the short term, this could cure some patients with the disease, and in the long term it could be used to prevent people developing it in the first place.'

Obama's Internal Reporting Service?

Remember when the Clinton's used the IRS to go after their opponents? I said Obama would do the same.

The Looming Obama Debt Disaster

is not far off.

[T]he really interesting stuff is the detail, and what leaps out again and again is how much of a hill the US has to climb. Exhibit a is the fact that under the Obama administration's current fiscal plans, the national debt in the US (on a gross basis) will climb to above 100pc of GDP by 2015 - a far steeper increase than almost any other country.

Global Green Meltdown Gains Momentum

You can't fool all the people all the time.

Experts armed with computer models are just guessing: that is the corrosive message coming out of the economic and political turmoil that has engulfed the world economy in the last three years. Look for the populist backlash to grow, and look for the global climate treaty to be one of its victims.

Every Tree is a Quantum Mechanic

Interesting.

Quantum entanglement is an aspect of particle physics so bizarre that Einstein could never accept it (he famously referred to it as "spooky action at a distance"). When two or more atomic-scale particles such as electrons become entangled, they stay linked and act as a single object: a change in one is instantly reflected in the other, no matter how far apart they become.

Liam Fox denounces Euro allies over Afghanistan

Getting them to do more is almost impossibe.

This caught my eye.

He vowed to : LOOK at laws to ban discrimination against our service personnel.

I'm not sure what he's talking about here but I do seem to remember something about military in uniform having to get permission from the landlord before entering a pub. That should stop. While this plan sounds good it also sounds reactive and I think he should be proactive.

For instance, I think British service personnel should be given free travel via train or bus in the UK. A chip could be implanted into their ID cards to make this possible. It's a small token to show appreciation and anything that helps ease the financial burden of our service personnel, would be welcomed.

Can We Quit the UN Yet?

Good question.

Why on Earth are Americans, unlike their enlightened comrades in Europe, so skeptical of the United Nations? I haven't a clue, though I suspect that, as Tim Cavanaugh noted a few weeks ago, it might have something to do with Iran being nominated to the UN Commission on the Status of Women. This was Tehran's Plan B, having been pressured into abandoning its bid to sit on the UN Human Rights Council. Hilarious, right? After slaughtering demonstrators in the streets, filling the torture chambers at Evin prison with students, they wanted to adjudicate on human rights violations in other countries? Silly Mullahs, those spots are resevered for countries like Switzerland, Spain, and...Libya:

Stunner: Chavez's Socialist Dreamstate Crumbling

Sean Penn must be so proud. Then again he'll probably just blame Bush. Oh wait, Obama is president now.

Venezuela's economy is in trouble despite the country's huge oil reserves. Blackouts plague major cities. Its inflation rate is among the world's highest. Private enterprise has been so hammered, the World Bank says, that Venezuela is forced to import almost everything it needs.

Obama’s Known of Al-Qaeda Ties with Iran for a Year, but Still No Action

And he won't take any action because he doesn't believe we are at war.

According to a new investigative Associated Press article, President Barack Obama was informed of the close ties between Iran’s Islamist regime and al-Qaeda one year ago. Many of the terrorist group’s top leaders had taken refuge in Iran after the United States drove them out of Afghanistan in 2003, but only recently had the Iranians given them more freedom to operate in the country.

Six weeks ago, General David Petraeus — head of the U.S. Central Command and one of the most respected men in the United States — publicly revealed this information about the al-Qaeda links with Iran.

The Health Care Reform Already Costs More Than We Thought It Would

Yeah, I know, what a shocker.

Meanwhile, the CBO just came out and said that the health care reform was slated to cost $115 billion more than they said it would. Why? Because they didn't have time to calculate the effects on discretionary spending such as new administrative capacity, demonstration projects, and continuation of successful short-term initiatives. As my fiance notes, Olympia Snowe's demands to slow down the process suddenly seem a lot more reasonable.

Stimulus Waste: Taxpayers Foot Bill for Shoddy Weatherization Work in Texas

This is how Obama is wasting our money.

Sheltering Arms Senior Services won a contract worth $22.3 million in stimulus funds to weatherize homes of low-income families in Houston, but a new report from Texas Watchdog reveals the work performed was so shoddy that 33 of 53 homes will need to be fixed.

Does TUSD's ethnic studies program violate Arizona's new law?

At least some in the media are looking into it.

And then there is the brown beret issue. Pages 193 and 199 of the textbook show pictures of demonstrators wearing brown berets. The book acknowledges a link to Che Guevara as an inspiration for the berets. Interestingly, the textbook does not explain who Guevara was. Guevara was a Marxist revolutionary leader and a major figure in the Cuba's communist revolution, revered by some as an inspiration to the downtrodden, but reviled by others as a ruthless killer who bragged about personally shooting defectors.

Euro Breakup Talk Increases as Germany Loses Proxy

What a mess.

German-led northern Europe, with its zeal for budget discipline, is attempting to fix the mistakes made by the euro’s founding fathers in the 1990s. It is squaring off against the governments of the south over who will control the euro and the ECB; whether the currency will be used to promote growth or squelch inflation, and ultimately, whether some countries should be disbarred from the monetary union.

Obama Allowed Drilling Without Needed Permits

No wonder Obama wants the finger pointing to stop.

WASHINGTON — The federal Minerals Management Service gave permission to BP and dozens of other oil companies to drill in the Gulf of Mexico without first getting required permits from another agency that assesses threats to endangered species — and despite strong warnings from that agency about the impact the drilling was likely to have on the gulf.

President Nicolas Sarkozy 'threatened to pull France out of euro'

And yet it's Germany that must bear most of the burden of Greece's debt.

Sarkozy demanded a "commitment from everyone to suppport Greece...or France would reconsider its position in the euro," according to one source cited by El Pais.

Another source present at the meeting between Zapatero and his party members and cited by the paper said: "Sarkozy ended up banging his fist on the table and threatening to leave the euro...This forced Angela Merkel to give in and reach an agreement."

That's pretty rich considering France isn't in that great a shape.

An honest and plain spoken politician. You won't see a Democrat like that.

Mullah Omar in Hands of Pakistan’s ISI

More confirmation is needed in my opinion. But this is coming from Oliver North.

Last month, while I was still in Afghanistan, rumors were circulating that the ISI had detained Mullah Omar in Karachi on March 27, and placed him under house arrest in what they call “community care.” American operatives say he has since been transferred to a secret ISI lock-up under the Pakistani euphemism: “institutional care.” According to several reports, all of this information was confirmed to U.S. officials by a senior Pakistani military officer “several weeks ago.”

“Why would the ISI take down ‘one of their own?’” I asked. The answer came in a mixed metaphor but the meaning was clear: “The ISI intends to be in the driver’s seat when the ‘Peace Talks’ get underway in Afghanistan later this month. And the ISI officers calling the shots know Mullah Omar is the best bargaining chip they have.”

Russia: A Hidden History of Evil by Claire Berlinski

Why doesn’t anyone care about the unread Soviet archives?

It's not so much that people don't care, as it's a case of the liberal controlled media aided by a liberal run education system, brainwashing everyone.

In the world’s collective consciousness, the word “Nazi” is synonymous with evil. It is widely understood that the Nazis’ ideology—nationalism, anti-Semitism, the autarkic ethnic state, the Führer principle—led directly to the furnaces of Auschwitz. It is not nearly as well understood that Communism led just as inexorably, everywhere on the globe where it was applied, to starvation, torture, and slave-labor camps. Nor is it widely acknowledged that Communism was responsible for the deaths of some 150 million human beings during the twentieth century. The world remains inexplicably indifferent and uncurious about the deadliest ideology in history.

Read the whole thing. Here are just a few snippets of why you should.

-
According to Zagladin’s reports, for example, Kenneth Coates, who from 1989 to 1998 was a British member of the European Parliament, approached Zagladin on January 9, 1990, to discuss what amounted to a gradual merger of the European Parliament and the Supreme Soviet.

-
Zagladin’s records also note that the former leader of the British Labour Party, Neil Kinnock, approached Gorbachev—unauthorized, while Kinnock was leader of the opposition—through a secret envoy to discuss the possibility of halting the United Kingdom’s Trident nuclear-missile program.

Neil Armstrong criticises new space plan in Congress

If it weren't for all of Obama's other government waste, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Eugene Cernan, the last astronaut to walk on the moon and a co-author of the April letter to Obama, spoke of the new plan in harsher terms, calling it a "blueprint for a mission to nowhere".

He said the new plan lacked focus, is short on details, and does not commit enough money to support human space exploration. He expressed concern that the development of a heavy-lift rocket needed for exploring space beyond low-Earth orbit – which is deferred until 2015 under the new budget – might never come to pass.

"Now is the time to overrule this administration's pledge to mediocrity," he said.

Remember Obama's pledge to restore science to its rightful place?

"We will restore science to its rightful place, and wield technology's wonders to raise health care's quality and lower its cost," said Obama.

Empty words from and empty suit.

Syria, Iran, and Turkey Openly Defy Obama, as Russia Regains Mideast Influence

So much for Obama's "smart" diplomacy.

The world is getting into the habit of making Obama look inept.

The U.S. sends a delegation to Damascus to wean Syria from Iran, and Syria promptly responds by inviting Iran’s president to the country and tightening the relationship. The U.S. praises Pakistan and sends billions in aid, and Pakistan responds by being less than cooperative in dealing with the Times Square bomber.

Now it’s Russia’s turn. Just hours after the Obama administration praised Russia for allegedly cooperating on sanctions against Iran — to justify pushing forward a bilateral nuclear weapons limitation agreement with Moscow — Russia eagerly responded by subverting U.S. Middle East policy.

Russian President Dimitry Medvedev visited Syria and Turkey, taking a very large entourage with him to work on trade and military cooperation agreements. In effect, these meetings marked another step in the creation of an anti-American alliance in the region with Russian backing.

For Sale: Thousands of Hacked Twitter Accounts

Be wary.

In many cases the buyers are conducting a lucrative trade by hawking phony antivirus products via tweets sent through these accounts. "The technique of stealing account credentials and posting malicious links on Twitter is more and more popular," and has surged in the past two months, says Costin Raiu, director of the global research and analysis group for the Moscow-based antivirus company Kaspersky Lab. "Cybercriminals are recognizing that social networking sites can be abused very efficiently for their needs."

In his first interview since taking office, Mr Lansley told the Daily Mail that he would also end the scandal of foreign doctors who cannot speak English working in the NHS.

He said he was prepared to pass new laws if necessary to ensure that GPs 'have the relevant language skills to ensure that they are safe'.

Standing up to the EU? We'll see.

EU Debt Crisis: Spanish Unions Threaten General Strike

Will they turn violent like Greece?

Spain's unions threatened to call a general strike to protest austerity measures aimed at reducing the country's deficit back to EU guidelines and calming markets.

"We radically reject this austerity plan and both unions are starting protests that could lead to a general strike very soon," Ignacio Fernandez Toxo, the general secretary of Spain's biggest union Comisiones Obreras (CCOO), told reporters on Thursday.

N.J. gov. sets tone for US

And not just for 2012 but 2010 as well.

Upon taking office Christie declared a state of emergency, signing an executive order that froze spending, and then, in eight weeks, cutting $13 billion in spending. In March he presented to the Legislature his first budget, which cuts 9 percent of spending, including more than $800 million in education funding; seeks to privatize numerous government functions; projects 1,300 layoffs; and caps tax increases.

Respect Party 'is over' says its chairman

Good ridance.

The party lost its only parliamentary seat, Bethnal Green and Bow, in London, in the general election. Respect's George Galloway won the seat in 2005.

Mr Galloway stood in last week's election in the neighbouring east London constituency of Poplar and Limehouse, where he was beaten into third place by sitting Labour MP Jim Fitzpatrick.

The only news better than this would be that Galloway was going to jail.

Quebec Says ‘Non’ to the Niqab

Good for them!

Why does political correctness fall away when it comes to the niqab? Because other Islamist inroads, like Sharia banking, happen offstage, so to speak. They are not “seen” by the public. But the niqab is open to the collective public gaze. Individuals responding to their own discomfort observe that discomfort mirrored in other people’s faces, which in turn emboldens them to protest. Politicians know grassroots support when they see it and several Western leaders have seized the moment for legislating partial or full niqab bans.

If governments and the media would educate the people that these garments are the same as KKK or Nazi uniforms, we'd get rid of them faster.

Lefty Blogs, Duped By Student Project

Claim to Unearth "Secret" Astroturf Campaign

Think Progress's Lee Fang was practically giddy that he had uncovered the next vast right-wing conspiracy, proclaiming that a powerpoint "obtained" by the website "reveals how the telecom industry is orchestrating the latest campaign against Net Neutrality" via layers of astroturfing "front groups."

In reality, the powerpoint was the creation not of the giant telecoms that quite openly oppose Net Neutrality, but rather of six students in a contest at a "think tank MBA" program held by the Atlas Economic Research Foundation. The whole project cost under $200. And far from being "secret," as Fang claimed, the powerpoint was posted online, as was the audio of the students' presentation to the contest's judges. Some astroturf!

The left keep getting caught in these scandals because they want these things to be true so bad that they just can't help themselves.

The country is in the best of hands.

NEW YORK (CBS) It's been just 11 days since the Times Square terror attack, but on Wednesday afternoon the White House announced plans to slash millions of dollars used to fight similar plots.

Support broadens among Americans for Arizona's tough illegal-immigrant law, while opposition sags

And yet again, Obama and the Democrats find themselves on the wrong side of an issue.

President Obama is opposed to the strict new illegal-immigrant law in Arizona. But a new poll now finds that he is in a shrinking minority of Americans and Democrats who do.

A new Pew Research Center Poll finds fully 73% of the country thinks police requesting immigration status documents is fine, while 67% think detaining someone for a status check is OK.

The poll reports that, overall, 59% approve of the law's broad provisions, while less than a third (32%) now oppose them. That is up significantly from a similar poll earlier this month.

Democrats, a large majority of whom originally opposed the law, are now....

... evenly split 45-46% approve-disapprove. The number of Democrats supporting the measure has been growing as more information spreads about its legal provisions and safeguards.

Jupiter loses one of its stripes and scientists have no idea why

Strange

Jupiter has lost one of its iconic red stripes and scientists are baffled as to why.

The largest planet in our solar system is usually dominated by two dark bands in its atmosphere, with one in the northern hemisphere and one in the southern hemisphere.

However, the most recent images taken by amateur astronomers have revealed the lower stripe known as the Southern Equatorial Belt has disappeared leaving the southern half of the planet looking unusually bare.

Europe's Burqa Wars

As Europe's Muslim population continues to grow, Islamic dress, particularly the controversial burqa, has become a focus for wrenching political disputes. From Belgium, which is leading the way toward a full ban, to Turkey, whose enforced secularism inspired the new policies in the West, here's a look at five places where the debate is most contentious.

This is easy to fix.

Just educate the public that the burqa is the same as wearing KKK or Nazi uniform.

Pickens: Where's Our Iraqi Oil?

If fighting in the Middle East is all about blood for oil, haven't we spilled enough blood?

When Pickens met with Bush, the response Pickens was given was, "If we made a call on the oil, it would look like that's why we went to Iraq." Pickens adds, "And the president [Bush] told me, he said the reason we went to Iraq was to free the people of Saddam Hussein and to develop a democracy in the Middle East

Spain Lowers Public Wages After EU Aid Plan Sought Deeper Cuts

Will they riot like Greece?

May 12 (Bloomberg) -- Spain will reduce public wages 5 percent this year and freeze them in 2011 in response to calls from European finance ministers for deeper budget cuts as part of an almost $1 trillion aid package for indebted euro nations.

The public-wage cut comes into effect in June, while a planned increase in pensions will be suspended next year and the government will eliminate a 2,500-euro ($3,168) subsidy for new parents, Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero told lawmakers today in Madrid. The measures will reduce the deficit by an additional 1.5 percentage points of gross domestic product over two years, taking the shortfall to 6 percent of GDP in 2011.

Zapatero called for a “collective national effort” to “restore confidence in the Spanish economy.” Members of the government will see their wages cut 15 percent and public investment will be reduced by 6 billion euros next year, he said.

Health overhaul law potentially costs $115B more

I'm shocked, shocked I tell you!

The costs were not reflected in earlier estimates by the budget office, although Republican lawmakers strenuously argued that they should have been. Part of the reason is technical: the additional spending is not mandatory, leaving Congress with discretion to provide the funds in follow-on legislation — or not.

Like that's going to happen with Obama, Pelosi and Reid in charge!

Tax winners and losers under British coalition government

How does this sound?

As a result, the first big surprise of the new Parliament will be that a coalition with the Lib Dems, which was much derided in prospect by many Conservatives, could prompt the biggest tax cut seen in decades. Less tax and more take-home pay, less government spending and more individual choice, should please many grass roots Tories who feared their own party’s fiscal proposals were too timid.

Sounds like the teaparty, doesn't it?

Obama Response to Gulf Oil Spill 2010 is woeful

This is Obama's Katrina.

So what does this mean for the president? It means that he had better cut a more vigorous and public figure along the Gulf — stat — and give the appearance of taking charge of the disaster, while operationally doing no such thing.

ACORN lobbying efforts continue in Washington under Communities United name

Remember that name, Communities United = ACORN.

For a supposedly dead organization, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now sure has been busy.

Despite ACORN’s reported demise, the radical group’s flagship Washington, D.C., office continues to go about its business below the radar as state chapters across the nation form breakaway groups.

On May 5 ACORN’s new D.C. spinoff group, Communities United, held a founding meeting in ACORN’s office on 8th Street Southeast in the nation’s capital.

SEIU To Try And Force Open Border And Amnesty Like It Did Health Care

Obama's goon squad.

Hmmm, this sounds interesting.

Mexican Students Walk Out of Class, Attack Other Students with American Flags

If they don't like it here in America, go home.

It appears the Latino students walked out of classes because the students wearing patriotic clothing were not disciplined.

Obviously, the Latino students do not consider themselves Americans. In the above video, the students wave Mexican flags and chant that displaying the American flag is disrespectful of their heritage and sense of Mexican nationalism.

California Teacher Says Drawing American Flag is “Offensive”

That's been the left's game plan all along, turn our children into left wing drones.

Now from Santa Rita School district near Salinas, a teacher has told a 13-year-old student at Gavilan Middle School not to draw American flags in class because it is “offensive.”

A student who drew pictures of Barack Obama with red/white/blue colors was praised.

'Tea party'-backed platform sails through Maine GOP convention

Interesting.

Conservative activists backed by “tea party” groups have rejected the Maine Republican Party’s proposed platform, replacing it with a document praising the tea-party movement and calling for a number of potentially radical changes, such as the sealing of borders.

Media Take Note: In Arizona County, Of 64 Highway Chases Last Month, Not One Perp a U.S. Citizen

Not that this will make any difference to the critics.

Last month alone, just in one patrol region, we had sixty-four pursuits. That means people who were driving a vehicle, failed to yield, took off like a bat out of hell, running red lights, creating traffic wrecks, numerous people were killed in these wrecks over the last several months, and who are these people? Not one of them was a U.S. citizen.

Sorry Ma’am! L.A. Times Declines to Endorse Barbara Boxer for U.S. Senate

Rats leaving the sinking ship.

Sorry Ma’am Boxer, even the L.A. Times doesn’t believe in you anymore! According to Fox News, the editors at the biggest newspaper on the West Coast, who were expected to endorse Sen. Barbara Boxer in her primary campaign against some token opposition, have decided to remain neutral, saying the California Democrat doesn’t display enough intellectual firepower. The left wing biased Los Angeles Times on Friday declined to offer endorsements in all Democratic and Republican primaries for governor and Senate, saying the races have been undermined by politics and money.

Outrage: Obama Administration Targets Military for Pay Reductions

Typical Democrat.

President Barack Obama — who came to power with the help of government employee unions across the nation and has lavished on them hundreds of billions in stimulus funds to keep them on federal, state and local payrolls with no strings attached — is moving to cut spending on salaries for military personnel.

Is Obama Trying to Nationalize Your Retirement Savings?

I wouldn't put it past him.

At this point, I think the best we can say is this: the federal government is desperate for cash, and the biggest untapped source of wealth is the hundreds of billions or trillions of dollars that Americans who are now nearing retirement age have saved over their lifetimes. I don't doubt for an instant that the Obama administration would like to get its hands on this money, which would go a long way toward resolving the current government debt crisis. An obvious way of doing so is to take the money now, in exchange for a promise to pay an "annuity" later. The bottom line is that, given what we know about the Obama administration's rapacious appetite for swallowing up private wealth, anyone who has savings should be vigilant.

Father creates iPhone app that gives a 'voice' to his severely disabled daughter

Is there any thing it can't do?

A proud father told of his joy today at giving his severely disabled daughter a "voice" for the first time - by building her an iPhone app.

Martin Brooks, 42, created the app after he became increasingly frustrated at not being able to understand what his five-year-old daughter Mia Brooks wanted.

Bright Mia was deprived of oxygen at birth causing her to develop Cerebral Palsy which has left her unable to walk, talk or control her movements.

The party of the wealthy turns out to be the Democrats

But thanks to the lying left wing media, not many know this.

The Democrats have created two conflicting memes for Republicans. One is that it’s the party of the rich. The other is that it’s the party of the rednecks. Which means, apparently, that the ultimate Republican is a NASCAR fan with a Mercedes.
