Obama to move goal posts in Afghanistan

says the LA Times.

"Here's the entire Obama transcript. But notice anything missing here? No more mention of the original 9/11 bad guys, the Taliban. No mention either of defeating them. And no more mention of making it safe for democracy to flourish in Afghanistan.

Through such overlooked omissions are the political goals and measures of American victory in Afghanistan being subtly shifted without any notice or announcement by the Obama administration."

Obama's Afghan general has put his Commander-in-Chief in a box. Obama and the Democrats claim that things have changed in Afghanistan since the last "review". But McCrystal has been there the whole time and his assessment is up to date. He says he needs 40,000 more troops or we lose the war. If Obama turns him down he can say the general was wrong but no one will believe that. As a result, Obama will lose the war and any chance of reelection.

Brown loses his cool

Not good for a Prime Minister.

Roman Polanski raped a child anally!

Got that?!

"Before we discuss how awesome his movies are or what the now-deceased judge did wrong at his trial, let's take a moment to recall that according to the victim's grand jury testimony, Roman Polanski instructed her to get into a jacuzzi naked, refused to take her home when she begged to go, began kissing her even though she said no and asked him to stop; performed cunnilingus on her as she said no and asked him to stop; put his penis in her vagina as she said no and asked him to stop; asked if he could penetrate her anally, to which she replied, "No," then went ahead and did it anyway, until he had an orgasm."

And yet, The Huffington Post and most of Hollywood want Polanski freed. By the left's own words are they damned.

According to Polanski himself, they all want to rape little girls.

"“If I had killed somebody, it wouldn’t have had so much appeal to the press, you see? But… f—ing, you see, and the young girls. Judges want to f— young girls. Juries want to f— young girls. Everyone wants to f— young girls!”

Update from ABC News.

Washington Post Admits to Bogus Quote

in trying to smear the right.

"The attack on O'Keefe cannot be brushed off as an innocent goof up, a slip of the pen, even slipshod journalism. Purposes are met in partisan reporting. It reminds one of the dishonesty of “Rathergate,” with falsified documents designed to score political pointts, not to serve truth. There is method to this madness, folks.

No wonder that 60% of public, by a respected survey by the Pew Institute, distrusts mainstream media, calling them inaccurate. Such a perception, if not reality, only hastens the mainstream's constant spiral downward, a death spiral, lowering public respect for the less esteemed Fourth Estate and now, its circulation too. Will they ever learn?

Bottom line: Democracy itself suffers from use of news as political weapon. "

Pressure mounts on Honduras to end coup crisis

al Reuters sees it as a "coup".

"TEGUCIGALPA (Reuters) - Honduras' de facto government came under mounting pressure on Tuesday to restore civil liberties and negotiate an end to a three-month crisis triggered when President Manuel Zelaya was toppled in a coup.

Zelaya, a leftist who irked conservative lawmakers and business leaders, was overthrown by the army in June and sent into exile. But he secretly slipped back into the country a week ago and took refuge in the Brazilian embassy. "

That's a flat out lie. The Honduran Supreme Court backed the Honduran government in ousting Zelaya when he illegally tried to change the countries constitution. The army only carried out the Supreme Courts decision.

You have to go to page two for al Reuters to even mention that little tid bit.

"Soldiers ousted Zelaya at gunpoint on June 28 and sent him into exile in his pajamas after the Supreme Court ordered his arrest. His critics say he broke the law by pushing for constitutional reforms they say would have lifted presidential term limits. Zelaya denies wanting to stay in power. "

He did break the law and the Supreme Court backed that up. How is the army's carrying out the Supreme Courts orders a coup? Only in the left wing bizzro world.

Even the French think Barack Obama is weak

Ouch.

"I cannot think of a more damning indictment of US global leadership than a French leader urging the president of the United States to show more backbone in confronting the world’s biggest state sponsor of international terrorism, a rogue nation about to acquire nuclear capability. It is highly embarrassing that President Obama is reminded of his leadership responsibilities yet again from across the Atlantic after the debacle over Washington’s appalling surrender to the Russians on missile defence.

Barack Obama’s weakness on the world stage will inevitably lead to the decline of America as a superpower. That’s not “smart power” - it’ is a policy of defeat."

US accepts Hamid Karzai as Afghan leader

One less excuse for Obama not to send more troops to Afghanistan.

"The acceptance was conveyed by Hillary Clinton, the Secretary of State, in a meeting with her Afghan counterpart hours before Mr Obama received a formal request from General Stanley McChrystal, the commander of Nato forces in Afghanistan, for up to 40,000 more troops. "

So, the Afghan elections never were one of Obama's excuses.

How Internet Reporting Is Beating the New York Times

More and more people are noticing.

The big question people still refuse to address is, why is it always Internet reporting from the right that is beating an "august newspaper as The New York Times"?

I love this. "There may have been something else at play—snobbery." Yep that's it.

"In a meeting of New York conservative activists earlier this month, Andrew Breitbart received a raucous standing ovation for doing something many conservatives never dreamed possible. He beat The New York Times."

Really? I seem to remember Rathergate, the Reuters fake photographs and Van Jones to name a few. Talk about snobbery.

Why is the president going to Denmark to beg for the Olympics?

NBC goes after Obama.

"European allies still refuse to send significantly more troops to Afghanistan. The Saudis basically ignored Mr. Obama’s request for concessions to Israel, while Israel rebuffed his demand to stop settlement expansion. North Korea defied him by testing a nuclear weapon. Japan elected a party less friendly to the United States. Cuba has done little to liberalize in response to modest relaxation of sanctions. India and China are resisting a climate change deal. And Russia rejected new sanctions against Iran’s nuclear program even as Mr. Obama heads into talks with Tehran."

Time to Act Like a President Mr. Obama

A tough ask by the Washington Post of a man who has only known campaigning.

"Sooner or later it is going to occur to Barack Obama that he is the president of the United States. As of yet, though, he does not act that way, appearing promiscuously on television and granting interviews like the presidential candidate he no longer is. The election has been held, but the campaign goes on and on. The candidate has yet to become commander in chief. "

Pretty damning since we're fighting two wars, facing domestic terrorism with the break up of three recent attacks and Obama's already been in office nine months. People we're warned during the campaign that being President isn't conducive to on the job training. Obama had zero experience running anything other than a campaign.

Obama means what he says for that moment only

Lots of Obama buyers remorse coming from the left. Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of folks. Pity we have to suffer.

Rumours about Gordon Brown's health

fuelled by unproven claim on blog.

When I first heard about this story I didn't think much about it. Britain is now in full election mode and these type of stories are bound to crop up on both sides. But something struck me about this Guardian report.

"Marr said he had spoken to the programme editor about the issue beforehand, but nobody higher up the BBC chain of command. A spokesman for the corporation, however, appeared to back the presenter. "Andrew was asking a legitimate question about the health of the leader of the country." The questioning was, the BBC said, within its guidelines.

However, the interview sparked consternation from leading figures at the Labour party conference, led by Lord Mandelson, who told GMTV the rumours were "absolutely ridiculous".

"We have seen out there on the internet, the blogosphere, all these extreme rightwing people trying to put these smears and rumours about, all completely groundless," he said.

Lord Kinnock, the former party leader, joined the chorus from the Labour ranks. Voicing his anger at "poking and prying" questions, Kinnock told Five News: "I abominate them. The BBC is one of the greatest institutions in the world. They demeaned themselves, they cheapened themselves and the judgment of the journalist who asked the question has to be questioned."

Kinnock later said: "People in the BBC know that I am amongst their greatest supporters, an advocate of sustained funding because I think they are incomparably the best broadcasting institution on the planet. The sense of disgust I felt means that I feel desperately let down by a BBC that is becoming red top."

Charles Clarke, the former home secretary, who has been one of Brown's fiercest critics, added: "I think this stuff is quite wrong and I think Andrew Marr was wrong to raise the question in the way he did. I support Gordon in saying his health is not a political issue and he is healthy enough to be prime minister."

Wow! I was gobsmacked when I read that. Not one of these Labour bigwigs denied the underlying claim here that Brown is on anti-depressants. The BBC, a big Labour supporter, backs up their man for asking the question and therefore must think there is some fire in this smoke.

Mandelson blames "these extreme right wing people", forgetting the BBC is far left, but doesn't refute the claim.

Likewise Kinnock doesn't refute it but is simply angry the question was asked and I guess by "red top" he means the BBC is far right, or something.

Clarke's response is possibly the most puzzling when he says he was angry that Marr "raise the question in the way he did". What does that mean? The question is legitimate but the venue was wrong? And what does Clarke mean by this: "...he is healthy enough to be prime minister...". He's "healthy enough" but not fully healthy?

Clarke is wrong when he says Brown's health is not a political issue. If the leader of Britain is on anti-depressants, as these reports indicate, then it becomes the most important political issue.

The next few weeks will tell if this story has legs.

Update. The Telegraph has more. They have a fuller quote by Mandelson.

"But to jump from that to say that he has got some sort of dependency or addiction is absolutely ridiculous. Frankly, the only surprising thing about all this is that the BBC of all people should choose to give it credibility."

So, saying it is ridiculous, but that's not the same as saying it is absolutely not true. Also the inference seems to be that Brown is taking anti-depressants and not that Brown is suffering "dependency or addiction". That's not the same thing.

The question is, is Brown being prescribed anti-depressants or pain killers? That is a legitimate question.

Update. Cameron’s Drug Question Double Standards

It never ceases to amaze me how hypocritcal the left are.

McChrystal Says He's Talked With Obama Once

Since Taking Afghanistan Command

Obama has called Afghanistan the central war on terror, that it was the good war and a war of necessity. Yet, the Commander-in-Chief has only talked to his top general in Afghanistan once? Obama has no time to talk to his general but he has time to talk to Letterman and Olympic officials.

Secret Service probing Facebook assassination poll on Obama

The left are all up in arms over this poll. Obviously it's a stupid thing to do. But the left's outrage, or feigned outrage, shows once again what hypocrites they are. Where was the left's outrage when a far left Guardian reporter called for Bush to be assassinated?

"On November 2, the entire civilised world will be praying, praying Bush loses. And Sod's law dictates he'll probably win, thereby disproving the existence of God once and for all. The world will endure four more years of idiocy, arrogance and unwarranted bloodshed, with no benevolent deity to watch over and save us. John Wilkes Booth, Lee Harvey Oswald, John Hinckley Jr - where are you now that we need you?"

And when a game promoting the assassination of Bush was recalled, the left campaigned to have it reinstated.

"An Iraqi-American artist was treated unfairly after coming under attack for making a video game in which players had to assassinate George Bush, according to a court documents filed this week."

Where's the left's outrage over this?

Here's why there's no outrage.

"The artist, who fled Iraq in 1992 after the first Gulf war, is an assistant professor at New York University's Tische School for the Arts and produced Virtual Jihadi after his brother was killed in an American bombing raid."

Don't buy into the left's feigned outrage here.

The left spent years comparing Bush to Hitler and then when some fringe nut makes the same comparison to Obama, all of a sudden the left are outraged. Bullshit.

Fact-checking Obama

More people need to do it.

Chicago Is Getting the Olympics

An early prediction.

Some people seem to think that the president is taking time away from more important things to go to Copenhagen to lobby for Chicago to get the 2016 games. They're wrong. He is taking time away from more important things to go get the credit for bringing the Olympics to Chicago. Does anyone seriously believe that the president would take a quick trip to Copenhagen with the possibility of coming back empty-handed? If the president is going, it's because he knows that Chicago has already won. He's going.

He may be right. Remember when people predicted the two American women journalist would be released because Clinton was going to North Korea? He went and they were released.

The thing with Obama is, everything is about him - everything.

Patrick Gaspard, ACORN, and Obama

Another Obama scandal? Let's hope so.

"With the revelation that White House Director of Political Affairs, Patrick Gaspard, has close ties to Bertha Lewis and to ACORN, Matthew Vadum and Erick Erickson appear to be onto something significant. While the Gaspard matter needs further investigation before we form any hard conclusions, it certainly seems to confirm that President Obama’s ties to a whole series of ACORN-controlled organizations are neither minor nor by any means long-past. In fact, making use of what Erickson and Vadum have discovered about Gaspard, we can trace these links still further."

Look at who the left want to destroy

That will tell you what they are really afraid of.

"Sad to say, many who should know better go along with it. Our old comrade David Frum wrote a piece called "Whose Side Is Glenn Beck On?" Well, in the space of a week Beck claimed the scalps of Van Jones, Acorn and that Yosi Sergant guy at the NEA, none of whom should ever have been anywhere near the corridors of power but who'd still be there if it weren't for Beck. So whoever's side he is on, it seems pretty clear he's not on the Obama Administration's. Hence, Media Matters' sudden obsession with such pressing concerns as Glenn's mom's three decade-old suicide."

The end of African-Americans

Hold on! It's not what you think. It's too early to tell yet, but we may be seeing some early sings that hyphenated labels are coming to an end. How ironic that Obama, the great divider, may have brought about this great social change.

Obama ran a campaign claiming he would unite America. So far, with the help of the left, he's been the great divider. Anyone who disagrees with him is labeled a racist - even blacks.

Yes, I said blacks. I've never liked African-American or any other hyphenated-American label. The PC left invented hyphenated-Americans to increase the number of "victims" in America and thereby increase the left's guilt. The left then use this guilt to try and shame the rest of us into submitting to their socialist agenda.

Last night I watched a studio audience news program which had several black women in it. The subject was race and whether the left and Obama are dividing America with these charges of racism against Obama's critics. One black woman stated she was offended by the charges because she was an Obama critic and black. Further, she said we were all Americans and that she was black and not African-American. The crowd erupted in applause.

Some are tired of the left setting the rules.

"I was interviewed on CNN. During the pre-interview by the young black producer over the phone, he asked me, "Is there any part of Obama's health care plan you like"? I replied, "No". He was stunned. With great shock and disbelief in his voice, the producer repeated my reply with a loud "NO?". Then he abruptly said, "I'll call you back".

News1News posted my CNN interview on YouTube with the following caption, "African American Right Wing (Obama Hating) Singing Tea Bagger, Lloyd Marcus". Folks, I am a Christian and hate no one. But, this is what the media does to those who disagree. All who oppose Obama's agenda are either racist, redneck or stupid."

Lloyd Marcus, Black Un-hyphenated American!

Want to unite America? Don't play by the left's rules and drop these left wing hyphenated labels that divide America.

Click here to read or hear John Wayne read "The Hyphen"

"The hyphen. Webster’s dictionary defines as a symbol used to divide a compound word or a single word.

So it seems to me that when a man calls himself Afro-American or Mexican-American or Italian-American or Irish-American or Jewish-American, what he’s saying is “I’m a divided American.”

Well, we all came from other places, different creeds, different races, to form a nation, to become as one. Yet look at the harm a line has done, a simple little line, and, yet, as divisive as a line can get. A crooked cross the Nazis flew, and the Russian hammer and sickle, too – time bombs in the lives of Man.

But none of these could ever fan the flames of hatred faster than the hyphen.

The Russian hammer built a wall that locks men’s hearts from freedom’s call. The crooked cross flew overhead above 20 million tragic dead, among them, men from this great nation who died for Freedom’s preservation.

A hyphen is a line that’s small. It can be a bridge or it can be a wall. A bridge can save you lots of time; a wall you always have to climb.

The road to Liberty lies true. The hyphen’s use is up to you.

Used as a bridge, it can span all the differences of Man. Being free in mind and soul should be our most important goal.

But, if you use the hyphen as a wall, you’ll make your life mean and small.

An American is a special breed whose People came to her in need. They came to her that they might find a world where they’d have peace of mind, where men are equal, and (something more), stand taller than they stood before.

So you be wise in your decision, and that little line won’t cause division. Let’s join hands with one another, for in this land, each man’s your brother. United we stand; divided we fall.

We’re Americans. That says it all."

Iranian TV and the BBC

Harry's Place notes with disappointment the BBC's kid glove handling of Press TV over revelations that Iran has built another secret nuclear facility.

"The BBC are at this very moment interviewing an employee of Press TV on Radio 5 Live, who is suggesting that the concerns about Iran’s nuclear aspirations are spin to strengthen Obama’s position and who is arguing against sanctions. The interview is being conducted as though the journalist is a objective uninvolved commentator.

The BBC are not telling their listeners that Press TV are a Iranian government funded operation, the station’s slavish support of the regime, and the problems they have had with impartiality.

Disappointing."

This will come as no surprise to those who have read my case against the BBC.

After having help set up al Jazeera, the BBC were only too happy to help set up Press TV, Iran's state run propaganda news orgainzation, to help spread left wing propaganda. al Jazeera, Press TV, the BBC - what's the difference?

Insufficient tuned-in-ness: It's an epidemic

U.S. Says Iran Ended Atomic Arms Work

The New York Times reported two years ago.

"WASHINGTON, Dec. 3 — A new assessment by American intelligence agencies concludes that Iran halted its nuclear weapons program in 2003 and that the program remains frozen, contradicting judgment two years ago that Tehran was working relentlessly toward building a nuclear bomb. "

Discovering Iran's secret nuclear plant September 2009

Oops!

Here's what the New York Times said in their 2007 article.

"The new report comes out just over five years after a deeply flawed N.I.E. concluded that Iraq possessed chemical and biological weapons programs and was determined to restart its nuclear program — an estimate that led to congressional authorization for a military invasion of Iraq, although most of the report’s conclusions turned out to be wrong. "

So, if the intelligence services were so wrong about Iraq, why was the New York Times so eager to believe them about Iran? Oh, I think you know the answer to that one.

SEIU the next target?

Let's hope so.

"Now picture a triangle. One point is ACORN; another point is the SEIU; the third point is the taxpayer. Now picture arrows flowing back and forth, representing the exchange of greenbacks and services.

While various government agencies funded ACORN to help poor people become voters and homeowners, ACORN under Rathke created SEIU Local 100 (Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi and Texas) and SEIU Local 880 (Illinois, Indiana and Kansas). In turn, the SEIU wrote checks to ACORN for political activities and union organizing, according to ACORN whistle-blower affidavits. In 2008, the SEIU and Change to Win, a coalition of labor unions, gave ACORN $1,729,462, according to union financial reports filed with the Labor Department.

To break it down, ACORN and the SEIU are hand and glove. Rathke himself referred to the SEIU as "one of the pillars of the ACORN family of organizations" in a June 9, 2007, blog posting. This coziness has been long known among conservative watchdog groups, but Washington has paid little attention until now. "

In other words, Americans would not know about this scandal if conservatives hadn't exposed it.

Health, Race And Obama

Bait and switch.

"Americans elected Obama because he presented himself as a fiscally responsible adult who--in contrast to his predecessor--was interested in looking for workable, pragmatic solutions, not promoting an ideological agenda. But Obama pulled a massive bait-and-switch upon assuming office, using every issue--the financial meltdown, the recession, the deficit, global warming and, of course, rising health care costs--to expand the scope and size of government. That's what Americans are protesting now, not his skin color. "

Good news.

"If Patrick were forced to wait 90 days, the appointment wouldn’t come until less than a month before a full-time successor is set to be chosen in a Jan. 19 special election. The bill needed a two-thirds majority in each heavily Democratic chamber in order for the law to go into effect immediately, but a significant number of Democrats joined Republicans in opposing the change.

Patrick's decision could be tempered by the fact that he has one of the lowest approval ratings of any well-known politician — 19 percent, in one survey — and faces a difficult reelection race next year. "

Obama to continue to detain people indefinitely and without charge

Where's your outrage now? Will the left call Obama Hitler as they did Bush for this?

This will make your head spin.

"The Obama administration has decided not to seek legislation to establish a new system of preventive detention to hold terrorism suspects and will instead rely on a 2001 congressional resolution authorizing military force against al-Qaeda and the Taliban to continue to detain people indefinitely and without charge, according to administration officials.

Leading congressional Democrats and members of the civil rights community had signaled opposition to any new indefinite-detention regime, fearing that it would expand government powers and undermine the rule of law and U.S. legal traditions."

But that's exactly what they said about the existing legislation!! Where's the left's outrage over this? When Bush did it he was evil but when Obama continues Bush's policies, everything is just fine?

The left have nowhere to hide now.

And now Washington is trying to create a trillion-dollar health-care experiment when over 85 percent of Americans are satisfied with their health care just as it is."

MPs accuse BBC of arrogance on spending

The BBC are arrogant on most things.

Obama's embarrassing moments on the world stage

When Bush did this kind of thing the world's media attacked like rabid dogs.

"Then there is the catalogue of Mr. Obama's embarrassing moments on the world stage, a list which includes: giving England's Queen Elizabeth II an iPod with his speeches on it; giving British Prime Minister Gordon Brown a collection of DVDs that were not formatted to the European standard (by contrast, Mr. Brown gave Mr. Obama an ornamental desk-pen holder made from the oak timbers of Victorian anti-slaver HMS Gannet, among other historically significant gifts); calling "Austrian" a language; bowing to the Saudi king; releasing a photo of a conference call with Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in which the president was showing the soles of his shoes to the camera (an Arab insult); saying "let me be absolutely clear. Israel is a strong friend of Israel's"; saying the United States was "one of the largest Muslim countries in the world"; suggesting Arabic translators be shifted from Iraq to Afghanistan where Arabic is not a native language; sending a letter to French President Jacques Chirac when Nicolas Sarkozy was the president of France; holding a town-hall meeting in France and not calling on a single French citizen; and referring to "Cinco de Cuatro" in front of the Mexican ambassador when he meant Cinco de Mayo. Also of note was Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton giving Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov a "reset" button with the Russian word for "overcharge."

BBC woman was a victim of the strangler robbers

There are two shocking stories here.

"I began to experience panic attacks. Everyday activities felt unreasonably risky.

In the past I wouldn't have thought twice about walking past a group of hoodies.

Instinctively I now crossed the road. I avoided meeting friends in the evening, walking home after work and travelling on the Tube after dark.

But I was one of the lucky ones. I had the invaluable support of great family and friends."

Sangita Myska went through a terrible ordeal, is right to speak out about it and deserves our sympathy. It's a shame she wasn't outraged enough to go further and use her place as a BBC journalist to speak out for the unlucky ones and against the government.

"It is now over a year on and Daniel Mykoo has been sentenced to life after pleading guilty to being the strangler, part of a duo who mugged me and 67 others. "

"67 others"!! A staggering revelation and yet she has nothing to say about the Labour governments abysmal soft approach to crime.

Clinton rebuffs general's warning on Afghanistan

That would be the general Obama hand picked.

"Clinton expressed "respect" for McChrystal's assessment that the United States would likely lose the war in Afghanistan within a year without more US forces.

"But I can only tell you there are other assessments from very expert military analysts who have worked in counter-insurgencies that are the exact opposite," she said."

Notice she doesn't name these so called "very expert military analysts".

Here, however, are a few named "very expert military analysts" whose assessments "are the exact opposite" of Clintons.

"The Washington Post reported Tuesday that Admiral Mike Mullen, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and General David Petraeus, the head of the US Central Command, had endorsed McChrystal's assessment."

The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the head of the US Central Command and the general in overall charge of Afghanistan, in short the top US military experts if this field, all agree but Clinton knows better.

This from the woman who lied about flying into Bosnia under sniper fire.

Lefty blogger admits support for Afghanistan was political

Ace has the details.

"Again we see a leftist projecting his pathological darkness on to others. They accused Bush of fighting wars for this very reason. And now, when it's safe to say so (they think), they concede: We supported a war for the reason we accused Bush of doing so for 8 years."

Don't Blame Us, Blame the Newspaper We Copied It Out Of

That's the title of a post by Mark Steyn when he gave me a shout out over my observations about the blame game. Mark noted: "It's their choice to copy blindly any slab of hooey appearing in the Post and Times that happens to suit their prejudices without checking it for themselves."

You can add the Associated Press to the growing list of blind copiers.

"WASHINGTON — In a Sept. 19 story about the community organizing group ACORN, The Associated Press, based on an account in The Washington Post, erroneously quoted a conservative journalist saying he targeted the organization for hidden-camera videos because its voter-registration drives bring minority voters to the polls.

The Washington Post on Tuesday printed a correction about the quote. Although ACORN registers people mostly from those groups, the maker of the videos, James E. O'Keefe, did not specifically mention minorities, the newspaper said."

Notice how the AP blames the Washington Post for its error. Also note the AP based its correction on the Post's correction and not on its own investigation of the facts! Sadly, this passes for jounalism these days.

Update: More here from the Post repoter involved.

Is It Amateur Hour in the White House?

As the saying goes, "if you have to ask". This coming from the magazine that called Obama, God, is rich.

Unintentionally, Newsweek shows just how amateur and weak Obama really is.

"Buzz about the leak of McChrystal's report focuses on two questions. Who slipped the document to the great Bob Woodward of the Washington Post? That's fun, but not serious. And who's responsible for allowing President Obama to get into this mess? That is serious."

"Allowing" Obama? He's supposed to be the President of the United States! You know, LEADER of the free world and all that. Some leader.

Let's remember what Obama said just a few months ago.

"In his campaign, Obama opposed the invasion of Iraq but safeguarded his national-security credentials by supporting the war in Afghanistan. A war, he said, America had to win—but to which, he charged, the Bush administration had failed to devote the necessary resources. In office, Obama ordered up a new Afghanistan strategy, and announced this on March 27 as the product of what he called "a careful policy review." Shorn of rhetoric, the new strategy actually accepted all the Bush administration's goals in Afghanistan—defeating the insurgents; preventing Al Qaeda from reestablishing a sanctuary there; working to set up a democratic and effective government; training Afghan forces to take over from U.S. troops; coaxing the international community to give more help."

And

"Suddenly, the strategy Obama announced in March is being ditched. Back then, Obama said that Afghanistan had not received (from the Bush administration) "the strategic attention, direction and resources it urgently needs." Specifically, he charged, the resources U.S. commanders needed "have been denied." "Now, that will change," he said. As late as last month, Obama was declaring the struggle in Afghanistan "a war of necessity" where victory was "fundamental to the defense of our people."

Now that Obama is being asked to put his money where his mouth is, he's backtracking. What did you expect from a rookie politician whose only experience was community organizing?

While Obama, the amateur, dithers, American soldiers are dying.

Introducing Bidenisms

This is why Obama tries to keep Biden under wraps.

Krauthammer's Take

from last night.

On Afghanistan:

"So we for six months have been living under the new Obama strategy, of which he says today we have none. And his next sentence is, again in March, "This marks the conclusion of a careful policy review" — not the beginning, the end of the policy review.

So it has been his policy, and now he tells us we don't have a cart and we don't have a horse.

What's happening here is he announced the strategy of counterinsurgency in March. He said at the time that we “cannot afford” an “Afghanistan that slides [back] into chaos.”

He said "My message to the terrorists who oppose us — We will defeat you," And now he's not sure he wants to defeat them."

The Obama scandals

Barely nine months into his presidency and Obama already has scandals on his hands. There's IG gate, ACORN, the Black Panther voter intimidation case and now NEA. That's some record - a scandal every two months and we've still got three months in the year.

Obama's Tax-paid propaganda

Is illegal.

"The Hatch Act should prohibit using government funding to promote a politician.

Nonetheless, Buffy Wicks, Deputy Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement, told the pro-Obama artists:

“I just first of all want to thank everyone for being on the call and just a deep deep appreciation for all the work you all put into the campaign for the 2+ years we all worked together.”

“We won.”

“I’m actually in the White House and working towards furthering this agenda, this very aggressive agenda.”

Powerline has more.

Memo to President Barack Obama: It's a tax

The AP calls out Obama.

"WASHINGTON – Memo to President Barack Obama: It's a tax. Obama insisted this weekend on national television that requiring people to carry health insurance — and fining them if they don't — isn't the same thing as a tax increase. But the language of Democratic bills to revamp the nation's health care system doesn't quibble. Both the House bill and the Senate Finance Committee proposal clearly state that the fines would be a tax.

And the reason the fines are in the legislation is to enforce the coverage requirement.

"If you put something in the Internal Revenue Code, and you tell the IRS to collect it, I think that's a tax," said Clint Stretch, head of the tax policy group for Deloitte, a major accounting firm. "If you don't pay, the person who's going to come and get it is going to be from the IRS."

O'Brien claims 'irrelevant' Independent to fold

by Christmas.

"INDEPENDENT News & Media (INM) could close its flagship title the Independent by Christmas, according to the Irish publisher's second biggest shareholder.

Denis O'Brien told the Global Irish Economic Forum yesterday: "There's no point in us, as a company, subsidising a newspaper that really nobody wants to read. It's not a relevant newspaper any more and this newspaper's going to be closed by Christmas."

The Guardian could learn from that lesson. The BBC would be in a similar boat if we didn't have to subsidize it.

The U.S. is trying to force Honduras to violate its constitution.

—Congressional Research Service, August 2009

"Ever since Manuel Zelaya was removed from the Honduran presidency by that country's Supreme Court and Congress on June 28 for violations of the constitution, the Obama administration has insisted, without any legal basis, that the incident amounts to a "coup d'état" and must be reversed. President Obama has dealt harshly with Honduras, and Americans have been asked to trust their president's proclamations."

EU accused of buying 'Yes' votes for Lisbon Treaty

They won't stop till they get the vote they want.

More trouble is brewing for the EU however. Czech Republic 'planning to delay signing Lisbon treaty'

"EU leaders are said to be furious that the Czech Republic is planning to delay signing the Lisbon treaty for up to six months even if the Irish vote "yes" in their referendum next month.

The country might even try to delay it until after the British general election campaign when a Tory victory would see the question put to voters by David Cameron.

Nicolas Sarkozy, who helped to draw up the treaty after the French and Dutch voted against its predecessor, the EU Constitution, has warned Prague that it faces "consequences" if it does not swiftly follow an Irish "yes" with its own ratification. "

Heaven forbid the voters should have a say in how their lives are run. The threat of retaliation from Sarkozy if they don't vote yes, is reason enough to vote no.

Krauthammer's Take

From last night.

On Afganistan:

"The president is stuck and he appears to be undecided. I think it is somewhat remarkable for the president in the middle of a war, after he has been the commander in chief for over eight months, to admit he doesn't have a strategy — so he doesn't want to commit the forces until he has a strategy."

Obama: Cap And Trade Could Cost Families $1,761 A Year

More taxes for everyone.

The Obama administration has privately concluded that a cap and trade law would cost American taxpayers up to $200 billion a year, the equivalent of hiking personal income taxes by about 15 percent.

A previously unreleased analysis prepared by the U.S. Department of Treasury says the total in new taxes would be between $100 billion to $200 billion a year. At the upper end of the administration's estimate, the cost per American household would be an extra $1,761 a year.

The stunning, total defeat of ACORN

I wouldn't celebrate just yet. The final bill hasn't been passed and Obama hasn't singed it. Besides, with the aid of the Democrats, ACORN will just set up shop somewhere else.

Obama under fire for U-turn on missiles

Another flip flop from "the one".

Here's what Obama said in April.

"So let me be clear: Iran's nuclear and ballistic missile activity poses a real threat, not just to the United States, but to Iran's neighbors and our allies. The Czech Republic and Poland have been courageous in agreeing to host a defense against these missiles. As long as the threat from Iran persists, we will go forward with a missile defense system that is cost-effective and proven. (Applause.) If the Iranian threat is eliminated, we will have a stronger basis for security, and the driving force for missile defense construction in Europe will be removed. (Applause.)"

Is Obama now saying the "Iranian threat is eliminated"?

House votes to deny all federal funds for ACORN

Now, investigate them and get our money back.

Listent as the AP writer, Abrams, tries to blame Republicans and cover for ACORN.

"WASHINGTON – The House voted Thursday to deny all federal funds for ACORN in a GOP-led strike against the scandal-tainted community organizing group that comes just three days after the Senate took similar action. "ACORN has violated serious federal laws, and today the House voted to ensure that taxpayer dollars would no longer be used to fund this corrupt organization," said second-ranked House Republican Eric Cantor of Virginia.

The vote, on a provision attached to a student aid bill, was 345-75, with Democrats supplying all the "no" votes.

On Monday the Senate voted 83-7 to deny housing and community grant funding to ACORN, which stands for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now."

Remember, the Democrats control both houses of Congress and could have stopped this if they wanted to. So, if Democrats are in control, why wasn't this a Democrat-led "strike"? Abrams inadvertently shows the Republicans are at least leading.

Next, Abrams tries to downplay ACORN's voter fraud crimes.

"Republicans accelerated their attacks on the liberal-leaning group a year ago when ACORN, in conducting a massive voter registration drive, was accused of submitting some false registration forms
."

Nasty Republicans. Imagine the nerve of them trying to stop voter fruad. As for the "some", 30 ACORN employees have now been convicted.

Notice also that Abrams leaves out the part about child sex slavery.

That's your left wing media, or as some call it now, the fringe media.

Is Maureen Dowd mentally ill?

I'm serious. Tim Blair has some thoughts and links.

Hearing voices, "sparkly fairy dust", "spooky spirits", "knife-thrower" in the White House and invoking Mr. Spock? Then there's this:

"Sometimes, when you’ve got the mojo, you have to keep your foot on your opponent’s neck. When you’re trying to get a Sisyphean agenda passed, it’s good if people in the way — including rebellious elements in your own party — fear you."

Really Maureen? That sounds an awful lot like Communism to me. Maureen seems to be comfortable with Communists.

"...after dropping Van Jones at the first objection from Glenn Beck..."

You mean as opposed to dropping him when Jones was outed, by his own words, as an avowed Communist and racist?

"...the president is getting to be seen as an easy mark. [You said it Maureen. ed]

If Obama didn’t have a knife-thrower like Rahmbo in the Oval, Democrats would be totally convinced that the president would fold in a heartbeat."

Is Maureen saying Rahm, "a knife-thrower" is running the country?

"He should take his own words to heart. He can live long and prosper by being less Spocky and more Rocky. "

This woman is insane.

U.S Senate denies funds for poverty group

That's how al Reuters sees it. But hey, wait a minute, don't the Democrats control the Senate with a filibuster proof majority? So, in reality, isn't it the Democrats who denied "funds for poverty group"?

But that doesn't fit Reuters narrative and it isn't the only thing they leave out of the story.

"WASHINGTON, Sept 14 (Reuters) - A poverty-rights group that has drawn the ire of conservatives suffered another setback in Washington on Monday when the U.S. Senate voted overwhelmingly to deny it access to federal housing funds."

Well, if the "U.S. Senate voted overwhelmingly" and that same Senate is overwhelmingly Democrat, it would seem ACORN has drawn the overwhelming ire of liberals as well. No?

"The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, which helps poor people fight foreclosures and fix tax problems, has received more than $53 million in U.S. funds since 1994, but conservatives' charges of widespread fraud have begun to impact its reputation in the capital."

"Conservatives' charges? So far 30 ACORN individuals have been convicted of fraud.

"Last week, the U.S. Census Bureau told the group it did not want its help boosting participation in next year's census."

Sullivan, the reporter, just throws that out without comment. Sullivan is trying to portray this as an attack on a poverty group by evil conservatives - and failing badly.

"The Senate measure, which passed 83 to 7 in the Democratic-led chamber, was included in a must-pass spending bill that funds housing and transportation programs for the fiscal year that starts October 1.

"This is an opportunity for the United States Senate to stand up and say 'Enough is enough' just as the Census Bureau did," said Republican Senator Mike Johanns, the measure's sponsor."

Interesting isn't it. Sullivan notes the overwhelming vote against ACORN by the "Democratic-led chamber" but quotes a Republican from the minority. Interesting.

"Republicans say ACORN engaged in widespread fraud during the 2008 presidential campaign when it launched a massive voter-registration drive in minority communities, which typically support Democrats and ended up voting overwhelmingly for President Barack Obama."

The courts say so too Mr. Sullivan as the 30 convictions attest to.

"The group has also suffered an embezzlement scandal involving the founder's brother."

The group suffered! Here again, Sullivan leaves out important details that tell a completely different story. Details like ACORN's decision not to prosecute the founders.

"ACORN more recently has been embarrassed by conservative activists who secretly taped employees in several cities giving tax advice to a couple posing as a pimp and prostitute."

Just giving "tax advice". Is that all they did Mr. Sullivan? What about the smuggling of illegal alien children for child prostitution?

For Mr. Sullivan and Reuters, this passes as journalism. How sad.

Mighty scandal growing from one ACORN

Powerline has some thoughts and links.

It's often said that, it's not the crime that does you in but the cover up. It might be said of scandals, it's not the scandal that does you in but your reaction to it.

America's vaunted news media, both print and broadcast, aren't involved, so far as we know, in the ACORN scandal. But, the media's reaction, by not reporting it and thereby trying to cover it up, may do far more harm to the media than any biased reporting of the past; as in the Van Jones saga. Why?

American's are horrified to learn that a government funded organization is involved in, not only prostitution but child prostitution. In other words, it's being done in their name and their angry about it. Worse, it involves trafficking in child sex slavery.

While their anger is directed at ACORN itself for the moment, as more videos come out, as did yesterday, the public are starting to wonder why they haven't been told earlier about the scandal. In addition, why were two amateurs able to scoop all, repeat all, of the national media? What is America paying these professional journalist for? Americans know a cover up when they see it and they don't like it.

Politicians would be wise to watch how they react to this scandal; siding with ACORN would be suicide. So far Obama has remained silent - just like the media. Bad move.

This scandal is far from over. We are told there are more videos to come. So far three states have started investigations. There are calls on the Hill for investigations and maybe even an independent prosecutor. All of which may lead to further investigations into organizations like the SEIU.

In short, the ACORN scandal maybe as big if not bigger than Watergate. And we all know how that turned out.

Liberals over play the race card

12% Say Most Opponents of Obama Health Care Plan Are Racist

You can count former president Jimmy, ever the loser, Carter in that 12%.

Another ACORN lie - video

Naturally the New York Times plays along.

"In a statement over the weekend, Bertha Lewis, the chief organizer for Acorn, said the bogus prostitute and pimp had spent months visiting numerous Acorn offices, including those in San Diego, Los Angeles, Miami and Philadelphia, before getting the responses they were looking for."

Oops! The San Diego sting video.

Add smuggling illegal aliens to the charges against ACORN.

Now, don't you think before posting ACORN's claim, the New York Times would at least contact the video makers for comment? I mean, isn't that what professional journalist are suppose to do?

There are two big scandals here. 1) The ACORN scandal itself and 2) The media's abysmal failure in the whole affair

More ACORN Videos To Be Revealed

So much for an isolated few.

At first ACORN attacked the messenger claiming the videos were doctored or edited unfairly. This, despite firing the ACORN employees involved. ACORN's next position was to admit their guilt, what else could they do, but claim it was a few bad apples. As more videos come out we're finding out ACORN is rotten to the core.

ACORN used the same tactics in last years election when they were caught committing voter fraud in support of Obama. So far, 30 ACORN employees have been convicted of voter fraud with more on the way.

To date, 3 governors are starting investigations into ACORN. When is the Federal government going to investigate? Probably never. Since ACORN is joined at the hip with the SEIU union, and both are joined to Obama, the Democrats will do all in their power to cover it all up.

So much for hope and change, eh?

Breaking update: Here's a teaser clip.

Add a new charge against ACORN. In this video the ACORN representative offers to help smuggle illegal aliens across the border - underage prostitutes no less.

Is Charles Rangel a racist?

According to the left, anyone who criticizes Obama is a racist. Does this make Rangel a racist then?

"Rangel: Health bill harder after Obama speech"

Krauthammer's Take

From last night.

"This is dealing from the bottom of the deck, and I agree that it is a disgusting tactic. It's done as a way to end debate. The minute you call somebody a racist, the debate is over."

Which is exactly what the left want.

Obama DID scrub kids school speech

the White House admits.

"When critics lashed out at President Obama for scheduling a speech to public school students this month, accusing him of wanting to indoctrinate children to his politics, his advisers quickly scrubbed his planned comments for potentially problematic wording. They then reached out to progressive Web sites such as the Huffington Post, liberal bloggers and Democratic pundits to make their case to a friendly audience. "

SEIU and ACORN

SEIU the next big target? I bet the shredders and file deleters are hard at work as we speak.

An Obama voter has buyers remorse

How could you not see this coming?

"Lots of people who voted for Obama believed that his election would reflect the extent to which Americans had moved beyond racism. That was part of why some people voted for him. Little did we realize that it would turn every criticism of the President into an occasion to make an accusation of racism. Racism is revolting, but so is the notion that we aren't allowed to criticize a President!"

Sorry Ann, but you and many others were caught up by "the one" and ignored all the evidence. I have no sympathy for people who buried their heads and saw only what they wanted to see.

Missing Little Green Footballs

I don't know what's happened to Charles but I agree with one of the commenters, he has gotten very, very thin skinned.

I also agree with the author in that Charles still has some valid points we need to consider. That said, what's up with the name calling, hypocrisy and thin skin?

Rangel: Health bill harder after Obama speech

Will Obama have Pelosi get rid of him now?

"Ways and Means Chairman Charles Rangel of New York says House Democrats would have to slash subsidies to the poor to get their bill to the $900 billion, 10-year price tag Obama specified.

Rangel also noted that the president didn't mention the new income tax on the wealthy that House Democrats want to use to pay for their bill, favoring a different approach instead. The congressman said "the restrictions that the president has given in his speech as well as the proposed discussions in the Senate has caused us more problems."

Obama: Is It Wishful Thinking or Lying?

I don't think it's either.

"So Obama's assertion he can expand coverage and care without adding a dime to the deficit over the next ten years is, by the admission of even one of his most ardent supporters, a claim that virtually no one believes. Generically speaking, when someone makes a claim that no one believes it's characterized as a lie."

I truly believe that Obama is out of touch with reality. Obama truly believes something that is clearly false. What do you call that again?

Another ACORN video scandal

Remember, Obama has deep ties to ACORN.

A Bad Bet

Harry's Place has the details. Note this at the end though.

"The BBC reporter simply ignores and discounts the theology - because he either doesn’t understand it, or doesn’t take it seriously - and gives a pat explanation of it in terms of ‘foreign policy’.

It is a remarkable thing really - we’ve all encountered it. It just is beyond the comprehension of atheists and moderate theists that when fanatics talk about killing for God, that is really how they see the world."

Yes, that plus the fact that they mean it!

The BBC reporter ignores it because to the BBC all Muslims are victims and therefore are to be protected. Never mind the public need protecting from Muslim terrorists.

Breaking news: They've all been sentenced to life.

Passing the buck on Van Jones

Has it come to this? Journalist are blaming America's left wing newspapers for their failings.

"A week ago, the Herald ran a story which, in its essence, was not true. The paper did not know this. It was the unwitting victim of a distortion created at The Washington Post, which produced the original story. The Herald's headline, which reflected the story, said: ''Right-wing 'lies' force Obama adviser out''."

While I'm glad to see them calling the left wing Washington Post out on the Post's "lies", it's ridiculous to claim they were an "unwitting victim". Van Jones was outed by a blogger using Google. If the SMH can't do as well it's time to get out of the business. If they're smart, and it's doubtful they are, they'll stop blindly recycling America's left wing newspapers.

The SMH isn't the only newspaper to be an echo chamber for the left. Mark Steyn was recently an "unwitting victim" in a similar way.

"Over the weekend, I mentioned that the New York Times's curious interpretation of an aside of mine had been enthusiastically reduplicated by newspapers from Chicago to Vegas to Sacramento and beyond. The Irish Times, an impeccably liberal newspaper, has now issued a correction:

In her column in last Saturday’s edition, concerning the difficulties being faced by President Obama, Lara Marlowe said that Canadian commentator Mark Steyn accused Obama of trying to establish a “personality cult” like Saddam Hussein or North Korean leader Kim Jong Il. This had been reported in the New York Times. However, what Mr Steyn actually wrote was “obviously we’re not talking about the cult of personality on the Saddam Hussein/Kim Jong-Il scale.”

I like the not so subtle way the Irish Times blames its error on the New York Times: Ireland's newspaper of record should surely know better than to rely on America's newspaper of "record".

Before the Internet and bloggers, these papers used to get away with this propaganda. Not anymore.

Update: Mark Steyn gives me a shout out over at the Corner. Thanks Mr. Steyn.

What is Obama hiding?

People are starting to wonder.

"The most interesting thing about the DOJ’s response is that it indicates the lengths to which the administration will go not to open up a window into certain things. There are some rocks you can’t lift and the crazy thing is that they’re such small rocks. The alleged offense itself involves relatively few people (if the video is any indication). It should have been “no big deal” to go after a handful of individuals in an isolated incident and have done with it. Why didn’t it happen that way? What is truly puzzling is why the administration is prepared to go to the mat over such seemingly trivial things. Which leads to the suspicion that the incident, while tiny in itself, is the tip of some iceberg. What’s under the rock? What really makes the Obama administration so puzzling is their extraordinary sensitivity to ostensibly unimportant things."

Stay tuned.

Wilson took caffeine pills in 2007

Oh, the horror!

"Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.), who shouted "you lie!" at President Obama during his Wednesday night address to Congress, admitted to regularly consuming caffeine pills in 2007. "

Lame, very lame. The Hill seems to forget that Obama admitted to smoking pot and snorting cocaine.

Your views: Obama's healthcare address

From the BBC. Nine pictures and nine people, and all for Obama and his health care plan. The BBC couldn't find one person against Obama. Imagine that.

BBC reports on 911 rememberance

Spot what the BBC leave out?

Two words. Islam and Muslim.

Then there's this:

"Nearly 3,000 people died when the four planes crashed in New York, at the Pentagon and in a Pennsylvania field. "

So they merely "died" when the planes accidently "crashed"? How about this: they were murdered in an attack by Muslim terrorists?

FCC Official Comes Under Fire for Past Statements

Another Obama official under fire.

""If we as a nation...fully funded a broadcaster like the British citizens fund BBC, we might have an impact on what they cover and have more power to demand that they cover everything," Mr. Lloyd said at a 2008 media conference."

The truth about the Middle East

Taking Jimmy Carter to the woodshed.

Too late for Obama to turn it around?

Let's hope so. As you read, remember, this is coming from an Obama supporter.

"By foolishly trying to reduce all objections to healthcare reform to the malevolence of obstructionist Republicans, Democrats have managed to destroy the national coalition that elected Obama and that is unlikely to be repaired. If Obama fails to win reelection, let the blame be first laid at the door of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, who at a pivotal point threw gasoline on the flames by comparing angry American citizens to Nazis. It is theoretically possible that Obama could turn the situation around with a strong speech on healthcare to Congress this week, but after a summer of grisly hemorrhaging, too much damage has been done. At this point, Democrats' main hope for the 2012 presidential election is that Republicans nominate another hopelessly feeble candidate. Given the GOP's facility for shooting itself in the foot, that may well happen.

This column has been calling for heads to roll at the White House from the get-go. Thankfully, they do seem to be falling faster -- as witness the middle-of-the-night bum's rush given to "green jobs" czar Van Jones last week -- but there's a long way to go. An example of the provincial amateurism of current White House operations was the way the president's innocuous back-to-school pep talk got sandbagged by imbecilic support materials soliciting students to write fantasy letters to "help" the president (a coercive directive quickly withdrawn under pressure). Even worse, the entire project was stupidly scheduled to conflict with the busy opening days of class this week, when harried teachers already have their hands full. Comically, some major school districts, including New York City, were not even open yet. And this is the gang who wants to revamp national healthcare? "

Read the whole thing. Don't expect the left wing media to report on Obama and the Democrats screw ups.
