Effort to replace Kennedy hits snag

Good news.

"If Patrick were forced to wait 90 days, the appointment wouldn’t come until less than a month before a full-time successor is set to be chosen in a Jan. 19 special election. The bill needed a two-thirds majority in each heavily Democratic chamber in order for the law to go into effect immediately, but a significant number of Democrats joined Republicans in opposing the change.

Patrick's decision could be tempered by the fact that he has one of the lowest approval ratings of any well-known politician — 19 percent, in one survey — and faces a difficult reelection race next year. "

John F. Kennedy Killed By The Right Myth

Despite all the evidence to the contrary and the fact that Oswald was a card carrying Communist, the left won't let go of this myth. Facts simply don't matter to the left.

See here, here and here.

What Would Mary Jo Kopechne Have Thought of Ted's Career?

Huff n Puff has the answer.

"We don't know how much Kennedy was affected by her death, or what she'd have thought about arguably being a catalyst for the most successful Senate career in history. What we don't know, as always, could fill a Metrodome.

Still, ignorance doesn't preclude a right to wonder. So it doesn't automatically make someone (aka, me) a Limbaugh-loving, aerial-wolf-hunting NRA troll for asking what Mary Jo Kopechne would have had to say about Ted's death, and what she'd have thought of the life and career that are being (rightfully) heralded.

Who knows -- maybe she'd feel it was worth it. "

Speechless.

Ted Kennedy had a car accident

I was watching the BBC's coverage of a review of Kennedy's life. Below the announcer was a text message that gave highlights of his life. I almost fell out of my chair when the text read "1969 Kennedy has car accident". That's like saying a murderer had a knife accident.

This is typical BBC bias by omission. Mary Jo Kopechne was Kennedy's victim in that "car accident".

Ill Kennedy urges fast succession

The BBC reports.

As usual, it's what the BBC leaves out that is important.

"Under current law, if a senator dies or steps down, voters must chose a replacement in a special election held within five months.

But Mr Kennedy, analysts suggest, fears a lengthy gap could deny Democrats a crucial vote on the proposed health reform. "

What the BBC don't tell you is that Kennedy wrote the current law to prevent, a then Republican, Governor from immediately appointing a successor. Now the situation is reversed and Kennedy wants to change the rules to suit him.
