Climategate: Hockey Stick: The Sequel

It will take decades to undo all the damge liberals have done.

It is a remarkable fact that warmists claim the right to keep their data secret and avoid any critical assessment of their work, while at the same time demanding that every country in the world fashion its energy policies on the basis of their alleged findings. No doubt there is a precedent, somewhere, for such arrogance. But I am not sure there is any precedent, anywhere, for governments being stupid enough to accede to such unreasonable demands.

The American Spectator : Obama: Stuck on Begrudge

This too sounds about right.

Off the teleprompter for a few seconds while stumping for financial reform recently in Illinois, President Obama had this to say about money, incomes and success: "Now, what we're doing, I want to be clear, we're not trying to push financial reform because we begrudge success that's fairly earned. I mean, I do think at a certain point you've made enough money."

No begrudging of success? That's what the left does -- begrudge, envy and resent, robotically. That's what makes them leftists -- and bitter. Sufficiently empowered, they've been more than willing more than once to kill millions of their fellow citizens who refused to admit to the guilt of individualism and independence, refused to obediently transfer their assets to a regime of organized looters.

Why would Obama even have the words "begrudge success" right there in front of his mind, ready for a quick ad-lib, if the begrudging of achievement wasn't an integral part of his mindset, a key motivator in his desire to grab wallets and redistribute wealth and income.

The thing is, we all knew this before the election but no one would listen and now we're stuck with their hope and change.

"Liberalism is spiritual sickness." (Wizbang)

Sounds about right.

Liberalism isn't stupidity or evil. Liberalism is spiritual sickness. Liberalism is based on the notion of ressentiment (Ressentiment is a sense of hostility directed at that which one identifies as the cause of one's frustration, an assignation of blame for one's frustration. The sense of weakness or inferiority and perhaps jealousy in the face of the "cause" generates a rejecting/justifying value system, or morality, which attacks or denies the perceived source of one's frustration. The ego creates an enemy in order to insulate itself from culpability. - Wiki)

Liberalism is based on emotions of envy and guilt, thus is it cannot in any way be compatible with reality, as reality cannot guarantee equal outcomes in a free, chaotic world of nature.

Instapundit » Blog Archive » THEY TOLD ME THAT IF I VOTED FOR MCCAIN, we’d get an Attorney General who’d want to curtail Miranda…

Obama wants to curtail miranda rights. Where's the left's outrage? Where's the ACLU? Where's the New York Times? What a bunch of hypocrites.

Attorney General Eric Holder said that Congress should “give serious consideration” to updating the Miranda warning which requires law enforcement officials to inform suspects of their rights – including the right to remain silent.

In an interview on “This Week,” Holder said that the U.S. needs to exam whether the current rules regarding Miranda warnings give law enforcement agents the “necessary flexibility” when dealing with terrorism cases.

Gee, now let me see. If they were treats as enemy combants, which they are, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Subsidizing Terrorism with Welfare Handounts

This is why terrorists make Britain their home.

Unfortunately, this story is not an isolated incident. Here’s a report from the Express about a Muslim cleric who collected welfare from the Brits while (to put it mildly) being a reprehensible slug: “The twisted cleric provoked outrage by comparing British troops to Nazi stormtroopers and telling parents of dead soldiers that their children had died in vain. …Choudary, a former lawyer…rakes in more than £25,000 a year in welfare handouts.”  And CNN reports that, “Since the mid-90s, London has been a haven for foreign jihadi preachers, organizers, agitators and propagandists, many of them recipients of generous welfare benefits.

Someone should write a book about this.

Will Janet Napolitano Be Fired For Times Square Incompetence?

Not likely. With Obama in charge, she's more likely to be his running mate in 2012.

U.S. News & World Report: 'Why a Rising Unemployment Rate Is Good News'

These people are insane. Since Obama is president, rising unemployment is a good thing in the weird world of the left wing media.

Now let me see, if rising unemployment is such a good thing, why did Obama, Reid and Pelosi shove the stimulus package down our throats? If rising unemployment is a good thing, is falling unemployment a bad thing? These people are insane or they think you are.

File this away and watch what they report when, and if, unemployment rats fall.

Venezuela annual inflation rate hits 30 percent

Socialism nerver works.

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) - Venezuela's annual inflation rate has surpassed 30 percent after consumer prices surged in April.

The Central Bank and National Statistics Institute on Friday reported a 5.2 percent increase in consumer prices during April, driving up the annual rate to 30.4 percent.

President Hugo Chavez's government has been struggling against the highest inflation rate in Latin America and a weakening economy in general.

Australian lawmaker stirs burqa controversy

Seems the west has finally grown a pair.

"The burqa is no longer simply the symbol of female repression and Islamic culture, it is now emerging as the preferred disguise of bandits and ne'er-do-wells," Bernardi, a conservative lawmaker, wrote on his website.

"New arrivals to this country should not come here to recreate the living environment they have just left. They should come here for a better life based on the freedoms and values that have built our great nation."

U.S. Debt Shock May Hit In 2018, Maybe As Soon As 2013: Moody's

Thanks to Obama.

This is what Obama, Reid and Pelosi have done to America.

The great uncertainty about how much debt is too much has tended to make fiscal discipline seem less urgent, rather than more. There is no obvious threshold beyond which investors will demand higher real yields for holding U.S. debt. Vague warnings from ratings agencies about the loss of America's 'AAA' status haven't added much clarity — until recently.

In the wake of the financial crisis and recession, Moody's Investors Service has brought new transparency to its sovereign ratings analysis — so much so that 2018 lights up as the year the U.S. could be in line for a downgrade if Congressional Budget Office projections hold.

Faisal Shahzad, Subprime Terrorist?

Only a matter of when and not if.

A policy of relying on stupid jihadists to screw it up every time will inevitably allow one or two to wiggle through. Hopefully not on a nuclear scale.

PC on Islamic extremism puts us at risk

PC is dangerous on any subject.

Our safety and security are being jeopardized every day because of cowardly political correctness, anti-Christian messages in the media, distracting semantic arguments over definitions and titles, the Obama administration's naïve, Montessori-school foreign policy, and a national security policy that hamstrings the American intelligence community from effectively pursuing threats. It's a double standard that is costing us lives.

Cafferty Slams Obama and Dems For Their Response To Arizona Immigration Law

Jo Dee Messina - My give a damn's busted

Soldier Escapes Death on Birthday, and Re-enlists

To quote a famous movie, "Where do we find such men?"

05.06.2010 KHOWST PROVINCE, Afghanistan – When U.S. Army Sgt. Brandon Bougades, C Troop, 1st Squadron, 33rd Cavalry Regiment told his re-enlistment noncommissioned officer "Let's get this done before something happens" during a May 6 conversation, he had no way of knowing how prophetic his statement would be.

The White Sulfur, W.Va., native had spoken with U.S. Army Sgt 1st Class Robert Waller, Headquarter and Headquarters Company, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, about adding another six years to his time in the Army.

To make the event special, he scheduled his re-enlistment ceremony for May 7, also his 28th birthday.

Just hours prior to the appointed time as predicted, something did happened.

"I told you so," Bougades would later say as Waller, from Jeffersonville, Ind., walked into Forward Operating Base Salerno's combat support hospital's room where Bougades laid in a bed receiving treatment for his wounds.

While on patrol east of Camp Clark in Khowst province, Bougades' vehicle struck an improvised explosive device.

Bougades received wounds to his lower extremities and was rushed by helicopter to the CSH at FOB Salerno.

This is the third time Bougades has been wounded in combat – something he's seemed to take in stride. His first complaint to medical personnel wasn't about pain, but about the re-enlistment appointment that he might miss.

Bill O'Reilly : Barack Obama's Money Trail

Leads to socialism.

We're bailing out Greece

And yet we're broke too. Biggest ponzi scheme in history.

US taxpayers will be helping to foot the bill for the Greek bailout, via the Interna tional Monetary Fund. And if the Obama administration doesn't draw a clear line, Uncle Sam may soon be on the line for even more and larger European "rescues."

The Greek government, with its high taxes and profligate spending to support large bureaucracies and social programs, is bankrupt. Its bonds have been downgraded to junk status.

As economist Milton Friedman once said, "If you put the federal government in charge of the Sahara Desert, in five years there'd be a shortage of sand." Greece has run out of sand.

Majority of Americans, including Democrats support Arizona

Which once again puts Obama and the liberals on the wrong side of the argument. Doesn't Obama ever get tired of being wrong?

Yuk it up Obama. While a war rages on our souther border, Obama thinks it's funny.

Defending a Local Business From Union Tactics, Part 1

This is called extortion.

The SEIU and other unions across California run a campaign called “Shame On” ‘Insert Business Name Here’. They stand outside businesses trying to make them look bad for not using union workers. This kind of tactic cannot go on any longer! PRIVATE business should be able to choose who they hire and not be forced to do anything that could possibly damage their business. It is time for people to start fighting against these tactics and exposing these people for what they really are.

That's the same SEIU that Obama says are his family - crime family that is.

Part II is here.

BBC blasted for £45,000 election boat party

Spending our money. I hope Cameron cuts off the BBC.

The BBC has been lambasted for its 'embarrassingly awful 'election boat party - after spending more than £30,000 on a celebrity-studded evening hosted by director-general Mark Thompson.

Stars ranging from Piers Morgan to Joan Collins, Maureen Lipman, Fern Britton and Sir Ben Kingsley joined BBC chiefs on board a luxury yacht called the Silver Sturgeon, which was moored by the London Eye for the evening.

Millions watched as Andrew Neil chatted to the celebrities while guests, invited by Mr Thompson, milled about drinking free wine and enjoying BBC hospitality at a grand cost to the licence fee payer.

Licence fee payer? Bah, let them eat cake.

High-End Homeowners Falling Into Foreclosure Trap

It happens even to the rich.

Heated pools, ocean views and media rooms are not what most people would expect to find in a foreclosed property, but more high-end homes—priced over a million dollars—have been falling into the hands of banks this year.

While that's sad and there's nothing you can personally do about it, there is a way for you to make money out of this situation. You set up a business cleaning houses on foreclosed properties. It's one of, if not the, hottest growing small business in America right now.

Illinois Budget Woes Come to a Boil

Seems Obama leaves a financial mess where ever he goes.

Illinois lawmakers were in disarray Thursday as they groped for stopgap measures to address a $13 billion deficit equaling nearly half of the state's general-fund revenue.

The state faces one of the nation's worst budget crises, spilled over in part from the broader national economic crunch, and its current bond ratings lag only California's. But the confusion in the legislature indicates that serious steps to fix state finances won't be taken until after the November elections—if then.

Glenn Beck's new book: The Overton Window

You can pre order Glenn Beck's new book The Overton Window, here.

An unprecedented attack on U.S. soil shakes the country to the core and puts into motion a frightening plan, decades in the making, to transform America and demonize all those who stand in the way. Amidst the chaos, many don’t know the difference between conspiracy theory and conspiracy fact—or, more important, which side to fight for.

But for Noah, the choice is clear: Exposing the plan, and revealing the conspirators behind it, is the only way to save both the woman he loves and the individual freedoms he once took for granted.

After five back-to-back #1 New York Times bestsellers, national radio and Fox News television host Glenn Beck has delivered a ripped-from-the-headlines thriller that seamlessly weaves together American history, frightening facts about our present condition, and a heart-stopping plot. The Overton Window will educate, enlighten, and, most important, entertain—with twists and revelations no one will see coming.

Germany approves biggest cheque in history to save debt-swamped Greece

This is becoming the biggest ponzi scheme in history?

Listent to this:

France, Italy, Spain and Portugal also approved their share of a the bailout to keep Greece from imminent default as the 16 leaders from countries using the euro headed for an evening summit in Brussels.

Spain and Portugal!! They just had their credit rating downgraded. On top of that, the IMF is giving billions but they got that money from America with is trillions in debt! Folks, if something drastic isn't done, this is all going to come crashing down.

Kids sent home for wearing American flag shirts

and Obama remains silent.

Folks if you've had enough of this nonsense, here's where you can get a lot of American gear. Some great stuff there too for Memorial day.

Barack Obama Doesn’t Care About Southern People

If this had been Bush...

Gulf oil spill, Tennesee flood and an out of control southeren border, where's Obama?

We have three, count ‘em three, disasters unfolding across the American South – east to west – and yet President Obama has done and is doing next to nothing about any of them.

Breaking: Last Navy SEAL acquitted of abusing Iraqi terrorist

It was a political show trial. This is how Obama treats the military that are protecting our country.

Pretty amazing that they brought this to trial with little more than Demartino and a jihadi attesting that it happened, but then the point here was always political. They wanted to show that they take detainee abuse seriously and were hoping the accused would accept some sort of deal. No dice. How’d that work out for them?

They were hoping the Navy Seals would whimp out. Navy Seals!

Disgraceful Leaking in the Faisal Shahzad case

This is how Obama does national security.

Then it got worse: Reporters started showing up at Shahzad's house in Shelton, waiting for the arrest to happen. Shahzad was actually up the road at a ramshackle apartment he had rented in Bridgeport. That's where officers were watching him — but apparently that also was leaked. A TV reporter showed up there and waited.

So who did all the leaking? Does the media think this is appropriate behavior in a terrorism case?

Shocker: Major corporations may dump health insurance, pay penalties instead

Yeah, shocker, eh?

Internal documents recently reviewed by Fortune, originally requested by Congress, show what the bill’s critics predicted, and what its champions dreaded: many large companies are examining a course that was heretofore unthinkable, dumping the health care coverage they provide to their workers in exchange for paying penalty fees to the government.

Now you know why congress wan't too keen to get those documents.

Obama, Pelosi, Reid and all the other Democrats who control congress are liars. They are ruining America.

Washington Post Off the Mark on FCC Bombshell

More proof, as if any were needed, that Obama is a communist.

Today the chairman of the FCC is announcing the agency will move to regulate the Internet, despite the fact that it doesn't really have the authority.

As Americans for Prosperity's Phil Kerpen has explained, the FCC intention - to classify the Internet like an old-fashioned telephone system so it can regulate - requires twisting history. It marks a major policy shift that could affect all Americans.

President ‘Tea Bagger’ Obama Owes Grandma An Apology

Bill O'Reilly: Gibbs' Attack On Wendell Goler Start of New War Against Fox News

Bring it on! The last time Obama and his cronies tried this, Fox News Ratings went through the roof.

For Leftist Drones At ‘Media Matters,’ National Security Is One Big Joke

They wanted the Times Square bomber to be a teaparty person soooooo bad.

To the leftists at Media Matters for America, even mere days after a suspected Islamist bomb plot was defused in Manhattan’s Times Square, national security is one big joke.

They could care less about U.S. security as long as they get to stick the knife in Glenn Beck, the Tea Party movement, conservatives, and others deemed enemies of George Soros’s utopian “open society.” It’s all about scoring against their political enemies and they don’t care if innocents get hurt in the process.

The thing is, they really don't care if we are attacked. They'll just blame it on Bush and say, see, that's what we get. Remember how after 9/11, some on the left said we had it coming?

Freddie Mac Wants $10.6 Billions More

Obama, Pelosi and Reid will give it to them.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Freddie Mac is asking for $10.6 billion in additional federal aid after posting a big loss in the first three months of the year.

The new request will bring the total bill for rescuing Freddie Mac, which has been effectively owned by the government since nearly collapsing in September 2008, to $61.3 billion.

Freddie Mac said Wednesday that it lost $8 billion, or $2.45 a share, in its first quarter. The results compared with a loss of $10.4 billion a year earlier. The most recent quarter includes $1.3 billion in dividends paid to the Treasury Department.

Terrorist Attack? ‘What Terrorist Attack?’ Wonders MSM

As I keep saying, these people are going to get us killed.

Now that the hoped for 40-something white male tea party terrorist is out of the picture, the MSM is downplaying the arrest of the suspected SUV bomber, Shahzad Faisal, a naturalized American citizen of Pakistani descent, apprehended as he was trying to flee the country for Dubai.

On MSNBC late Monday night, “terrorism expert” Evan Kohlman repeatedly dismissed the SUV as hardly a bomb at all claiming it only had gasoline and propane tanks and lacked explosives. Amateur hour of a failed wanna-be terrorist.

More Evidence Team Obama Stopped Shahzad Monitoring Begun Under Bush-Clinton

More evidence team Obama dropped the ball on protecting America. It was sheer luck the bomb didn't go off.

JTTF’s typically surveillance an individual – especially a US Citizen – under the FIS Court authorization. These authorizations have to be renewed every 90 days or so by the US Attorney General. As has been noted before (see here, here and here for details) the Obama administration began shutting down Bush-era terrorists investigations last year as they debated how to reduce our nation’s surveillance of terrorists threats. The person who killed 14 people at Ft Hood last fall was one such suspect whose JTTF investigation was suspiciously shut down around this time last year.

There is more evidence which seems to point at changes made by the Obama administration in terms of their monitoring Mr. Shahzad. For example, after being on the terrorist watch list for almost a decade, Shahzad was removed from that list sometime after 2008, according to CBS News:

Climategate: Sensenbrenner Report Challenges EPA Greenhouse Finding

Our tax dollars are being used to promote illegal activity.

NPR's All Things Considered devoted an entire one-sided story Tuesday night to the apparently heart-breaking news that illegal aliens are considering moving out of Arizona to more illegal-friendly states.

Reporter Ted Robbins spent his whole story talking to illegal aliens and their defenders about how they're misunderstood, and even touted how community organizers are "flexing their political muscle" by putting together "barrio defense committees" like "reverse neighborhood watches" to alert illegals that law enforcement is in the area.

The Facebook Effect

The Inside Story of the Company That Is Connecting the World

(Fortune) -- Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is known as a precocious visionary, but as a college-age CEO he was as rebellious and irreverent as the next kid. In his forthcoming book The Facebook Effect: the Inside Story of the Company That Is Connecting the World, author David Kirkpatrick gives an unprecedented look at the rambunctious nerds who created a multibillion-dollar media giant. An adapted excerpt is below.

In the first week of his sophomore year at Harvard, Mark Zuckerberg cobbled together an internet software program he called Course Match. The idea was to help students pick classes based on who else was taking them. If a cute girl sat next to you in Topology, you could look up next semester's Differential Geometry course to see if she had enrolled in that as well. Hundreds of students immediately started using it.

Marriage Turned Shahzad Into A Radical

Yep, anything and everything did it except Islam.

Obama and his media lackeys are going to get us all killed.

Oh, my! Look what cable news channel Obama's own Justice Dept. chooses to watch when Big News breaks

Another Obama epic fail.

The briefing room's main TV's are tuned to the top-rated cable news channel. Trouble is, that's the dreaded Fox News Channel that Obama aides including David Axelrod so weirdly picked a fight with last fall, castigating it as an alleged broadcast arm of the party of Abraham Lincoln, who never even owned a TV.

The public criticism of Fox no doubt went down well with the Democratic party's left for a few days. But it also backfired, boosting Fox's ratings, causing more people to watch as in: "Don't look over there, folks! That woman has no clothes on."

And those ratings ultimately showed that something on the order of a third of that network's viewers are, like Atty. Gen. Holder, Democrats who clearly want fair and balanced news.

You just can't make this stuff up. LOL

If Only the Tea Partiers Were More European

You betcha!

But Tea Parties? Not in Europe. Never. The pitchfork-toting crowd is a peculiar byproduct of the misinformed, disturbed politics of the United States, where Lindberghs, Limbaughs, and Levins have always proliferated. Protest movements on the continent, like the May 1st protests in Kungsträdgården, under a sea of Cuban flags and photos of Marx and Mao, are a more civilized celebration of dictatorship and egalitarianism.

Or how about the protests in Greece, where Tea Parti...errr...left-wing protesters took to the streets again today to demand that, as the government and economy collapses, that no austerity measures be taken. The result? Three people dead in the firebombing of a bank in Athens. CNN has the chilling details:

Rep. Andre Carson: Protesters Are ‘One of the Largest Threats to our Internal Security’

But when the Democrats protest, it's the highest form of patriotism.

When Rep. Carson gathered reporters around him to spread the myth of racial slurs being hurled “fifteen times” he painted the protesters not just as racists, but as a terrorist threat.

Eric Holder's Troubles Mount

Another failed Obama apointee.

It’s not as though the briefs in question were filed in obscure cases. The missing documents include a pair that Holder signed in opposition to the Bush administration in a landmark terrorism case—touching on issues that have been a top priority for Holder’s Justice Department.

The attorney general has insisted through aides that the omissions were inadvertent. In a 51-page sworn statement in response to a nomination questionnaire from the Senate Judiciary Committee, Holder identified three friend-of-the court briefs that he had filed with the court during his legal career. But he left off six others, including the two in the terrorist case centered on al Qaeda suspect Jose Padilla.

You would think that one would be hard to forget.

Shahzad's Motive 'Unclear' to CBS

This counts as news?

Botched bomber Faisal Shahzad's failure to achieve the “American dream” may have been an important motive for his terrorist act, CBS's Bob Orr contended Wednesday night in a story in which he declared: “Shahzad's motive also remains unclear.” After noting how Shahzad “told interrogators he's upset with U.S. policies which he feels unfairly target Muslims and he's angry over Predator strikes that have killed both terror leaders and civilians in his native Pakistan,” Orr proposed:

'Horror story' for thousands as cancer patients are denied 'miracle' drug on the NHS

Britain already has a death panel. It's called NICE

Thousands of cancer sufferers are set to be denied a 'miracle' drug on the NHS that is routinely used in virtually every other Western country.

The Government's rationing body says Avastin is not cost-effective despite evidence that it can prolong the lives of bowel cancer patients by more than two years.

The final decision is due next month, but NICE, the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence, has already made clear the cost breaches its threshold for NHS use.

Newsweek Reporter: Why Arizona Isn't Crazy

Newsweek!

It's terrifying to live next door to homes filled with human traffickers, drug smugglers, AK-47s, pit bulls, and desperate laborers stuffed 30 to a room, shoes removed to hinder escape. During a month's reporting with police and other law-enforcement agents in Arizona last year, I met many scared people. One man who lived next to a "drop house" for Mexican workers slept with two guns under his bed, his children not allowed to play in the backyard. The sound of gunshots was not uncommon. "Four years ago this neighborhood was poodles and old ladies," he said, too frightened to give his name. "Now it's absolutely insane." That morning, authorities had raided the drop house. When the neighbor told me how his kids had been evacuated behind riot shields, he began to cry. Others, too, were unhappy: the undocumented workers taken from the house were exhausted, sweaty, and dead quiet as they sat on a curb with their hands cuffed, waiting to be taken away.

The problem isn't Arizona or even America, the problem is Mexico. How come no one is talking about that?

Bush-ama tax cuts: The $2.2 trillion decision

Amazing, isn't it? How many Bush policies Obama is keeping.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- They're often called the "Bush" tax cuts. But at this point they might as well be called the Bush-ama tax cuts.

That's because President Obama has embraced the tax relief measures introduced in 2001 and 2003, proposing they be extended indefinitely for most Americans. If lawmakers do nothing, the measures expire Dec. 31.

All flights are grounded and no trains or ferries are running as transport workers join public sector staff who began a 48-hour strike on Tuesday.

The number of children in Japan hits new low for 29th straight year

TOKYO (AP) — Japan had fewer youngsters celebrating Children's Day for the 29th straight year Wednesday, highlighting concerns that the country may face difficulty finding enough workers and taxpayers to support a rapidly aging population.

Mark Steyn wrote a great book about the effects demographics would have on countries in the future. Japan is proving he was spot on.

How dumb are liberals? So dumb they think you're dumb too.

Now I get Dana Milbank's idea of intellectual consistency.

It's the same argument Obama makes all the time, setting up a strawman argument about how "some people" say "we should do nothing" in order to justify comprehensive federal government control.

The following also may come as a surprise: Even conservatives understand that maritime affairs traditionally are within the purview of federal jurisdiction, see Article I, Sections 8 - 10 and Article III, Section 2 of the document known as the United States Constitution.

Ever hear of it?

Rage Company: A Marine's Baptism By Fire

In November 2006, then First Lieutenant Thomas Daly arrived as part of the "surge" in Ramadi, to take part in Operation Squeeze Play, a division-size effort to remove al Qaeda from Anbar province. In this powerful memoir, he describes the successful clearing of southern Ramadi's Second Officer's district, the Qatana, and the uprising of local citizens against al Qaeda on the eastern edge of the city (the result of an unlikely alliance between Daly's company and Thawar al Anbar). From the first patrol to the last in the spring of 2007, he takes you inside the daily successes and struggles of the operation and the stressful challenge of trying to discern who was a terrorist and who was a civilian. He tells the powerful and very human story of a people who want to free their country, yet have no basis on which to trust the American forces in helping them succeed.

Lessons to Learn from Boston's Water-Main Break

Disaster preparedness is so easy today.

The citizens of Red Sox Nation went into an aquatic panic this weekend after a massive rupture in the pipe that shuttles water to more than 2 million people in Boston and its dense inner-ring suburbs. By Saturday afternoon the state water-resources agency asked people in 30 communities, including Boston, to quit drinking water out of the tap. Governor Deval Patrick declared an official state of emergency, but soon people were flooding into stores to buy whatever backup bottled-water supplies they could find. Cops were checking IDs at water-distribution centers in places like Belmont to make sure people from, say, Newton, weren't trying to steal Belmont's free water.

Here's a list of some disaster preparedness gear I put together. Obviously, you should add some bottled water and canned food to the list.

POLITICIZING THE WAR ON TERROR

Does Obama really want to go there?

The incompetence level of the Administration –on almost every issue– is leaking to the surface like the oil in the Gulf. The consequences of this incompetence are most obvious along the coasts of Florida, Alabama and Louisiana, but they will be most deadly if the national security team continues its feckless ways. As Fred Barnes pointed out on yesterday’s program, there have been four jihadist attacks on domestic targets on Obama’s watch –at the recruiting center in Arkansas, Fort Hood, Detroit and now Times Square.

And still they have a policy in place to avoid using the word terrorism.

Only a matter of time.

Times Square suspect charged in terror plot

He got on a plane despite being on the no fly list. Which begs several questions.

If he was on a no fly list how was he able to carry out a bomb plot?

Since he was on a no fly list and since he was arrested trying to leave the country after the bomb plot, why wasn't he interrorgated by the new high value target interrogation unit?

Civilian terror trials are the violation

PROF. ROBERT TURNER

President Obama's deadline for closing the prison facility at Guantanamo Bay expired 102 days ago, and Attorney General Eric Holder has now admitted that at least 40 detainees will be held indefinitely, without trial.

Enough, already: It's time to rescind the order, rule out any civilian trials -- and explain to the world why holding the detainees at Gitmo is the right thing to do under the Law of Armed Conflict (which subsumes what was long known as the Laws of War).

Obama and Holder have repeatedly acknowledged that America is "at war," as did Congress by invoking the War Powers Resolution by a combined vote of 519-1 on Sept. 18, 2001. And the Supreme Court has repeatedly affirmed that this war is governed by the Law of Armed Conflict -- which permits detention without charge or trial for the duration of hostilities.

US takes early lumps in case against Mich. militia

Was this just an attmept by Obama to pump up his security creds?

DETROIT (AP) -- Federal authorities touted the arrests of nine members of a Michigan militia as a pre-emptive strike against homegrown terrorists, declaring at an initial court hearing that the suspects with "dark hearts and evil intent" wanted to go to war against the government.

Five weeks later, prosecutors are scrambling to regroup after a judge questioned the strength of their evidence by ordering the so-called rebels released until trial and saying they had a right to "engage in hate-filled, venomous speech."

The EU migration lie: Official statistics expose huge gap between PM's figures and truth

What a surprise.

Labour was rocked yesterday by explosive new claims about its ‘disastrous’ policy on EU workers.

Figures showed almost four times more EU citizens working here than Britons taking jobs on the continent.

Opposition parties said the figures destroyed the claim by Gordon Brown – who promised ‘British jobs for British workers’ – that there had been equal numbers travelling in each direction.

Woman becomes first in Italy to be fined £430 for wearing burqa

What? No women's rights groups speaking out?

Amel Marmouri, 26, was handed the 500 euro (£430) penalty after she was spotted queuing inside a post office by police with her body and face fully covered by the garment.

She was warned she would receive another fine if she were spotted again in her burka.

Yesterday her husband said as a result he had no option but to stop her from going out.

Oh, I dunno, maybe you can wake up to the fact that the burqa is not a religious symbol, not in the Koran and not part of Islam. That would do for a start.

Christie Acts to Replace a Supreme Court Justice

Christie for President?

Once again showing that he means to shake up Trenton, Gov. Christopher J. Christie declined on Monday to reappoint a sitting justice to the New Jersey Supreme Court, instead appointing someone who he said would show the restraint that was missing from the court. ...

Speaking to reporters in Trenton, Mr. Christie had only kind words for Justice Wallace, but he described the historically liberal court as “out of control” over the last three decades, usurping the roles of the governor and the Legislature in setting social and tax policies.

Mr. Christie, a Republican, campaigned last year as a conservative bent on changing the state’s back-scratching, free-spending political culture, and as governor he has not shied away from fights. In particular, he has proposed deep budget cuts, clashed with the teachers’ union and with much success encouraged voters to reject local school budgets and the related property tax increases.

Michael Bloomberg Proves Himself to be a Fool and Should Resign

Playing politics whith American lives is never a good idea.

Bloomberg later told CBS Evening News Anchor Katie Couric that the suspect behind the bombing attempt could be a domestic terrorist angry at the government who acted alone.

“If I had to guess 25 cents, this would be exactly that. Homegrown, or maybe a mentally deranged person, or somebody with a political agenda that doesn’t like the health care bill or something. It could be anything,” he said.

“There is no evidence here of a conspiracy, there is no evidence that it’s tied into anything else. It looks like an amateurish job done by at least one person,” he told Couric.

Yep, blame the teaparty. Do these Democrats realize how foolish they look and how dangerous they make our lives with this nonsense?

Obama Administration Suffers Another Near-Miss Disaster From Islamo Facists

Sadly, it is only a matter of time. Not if, but when and how bad.

President Obama is now learning how the loosening surveillance laws put in place under President Bush has exposed Americans to greater threat from Islamo Fascist sleepers. These sleepers are terrorist who also are American citizens or citizens of countries not normally considered part of the front on the war on terror. First we had the American citizen turned radical cleric, Anwar al Aulaqi. His communications with American citizen Major Nidal Hasan eventually led to the Ft Hood massacre were 14 human beings had their lives snuffed out in the name of Allah.

How safe do you feel?

Did the Ayers family pay for Obama's education?

Maybe. Lot's of new information here.

Captain Ed is sneak-previewing a new Barack-basher, The Manchurian President: Barack Obama's Ties to Communists, Socialists and Other Anti-American Extremists

Barack Obama visited the house of Tom and Mary Ayers, parents of former Weather Underground activist turned education professor Bill Ayers, in the mid-1980s to thank the Ayers’ for their support of his education, according to Allen Hulton, the letter carrier who delivered mail to the Ayers’ Glen Ellyn home at that time. Glen Ellyn is a suburb of Chicago, southwest of the city.

Now They Tell Us: Post-Katrina, Nagin To Blame

If Bush were still in office...

NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- As Mayor Ray Nagin leaves office, hundreds of damaged city buildings including police stations and fire houses sit unrepaired more than four years after Hurricane Katrina, stark reminders of how the recovery has floundered.

Only seven percent of 283 city-owned structures slated to be rebuilt have been completed or are under construction, according to an analysis by The Associated Press. Those figures back up an impression many residents have had for more than a year - the Nagin administration has failed to renew much of New Orleans.

Yes, but what about Obama? Where's the president's leadership?

“You DON’T wanna be illegal in Mexico!”

No, really, you don't.

"Jose Ramos, 18, of El Salvador said the extortion (by Mexican border police) occurs at every stop in Mexico, until migrants are left penniless and begging for food.

Maria Elena Gonzalez, said female migrants often complain about abusive (Mexican border) police officers. "They (Mexican border police) force them to strip, supposedly to search them, but the purpose is to sexually abuse them," she said.

Others said they had seen migrants beaten to death by (Mexican border) police, their bodies left near the railway tracks to make it look as if they had fallen from a train..."If you're carrying any money, they (Mexican border police) take it from you," said Guatemalan migrant Carlos Lopez in the same story, "federal, state, local (Mexican) police--all of them." Lopez had been shaken down repeatedly in 15 days of traveling through Mexico.

"If you're on a bus, they pull you off and search your pockets, and if you have any money," added El Salvadoran migrant Jose Ramos, "they (Mexican Border police) keep it all and say, 'Get out of here!'"

Which is why these people want to come to America. Now, if Mexico cleaned up its act, we wouldn't be having this conversation. So let's put the blame for all of this where it belongs, on Mexico and not Arizona.

Did Obama administration tell GM to lie about its TARP repayment?

I wouldn't put it past them.

Unfortunately, according to Neil Barofsky, the Inspector-General for the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) under which the federal loans were made to GM, the repayments cited by Whitacre were simply made with other tax dollars made available to the automaker in its bailout deal with the government.

So in effect GM was repaying one government loan with another government loan.
...

There is a name for the kind of regime that allows private ownership of businesses but effectively tells them what to produce and sell. It's called Facism. America is far from there, but becoming a bailout nation is a significant step in the wrong direction.

Greek Bailout Already Making Situation Worse

This isn't over yet.

General Election 2010: Postal vote fraud amid fears bogus voters could swing election | Mail Online

Seems Labour have learned from the Democrats in America, that the best way to win is by fraud. The left have turned two modern day democracies into third world countries.

The Metropolitan Police are examining 28 claims of major abuses across 12 boroughs - with four separate investigations in Tower Hamlets, East London.

Labour supporters stand accused of packing the electoral roll at the last minute with relatives living overseas or simply inventing phantom voters.

Officials in Tower Hamlets received 5,166 new registrations just before the April 20 deadline, and there has been no time to check them all.

In Bethnal Green, it is feared the electoral register has been deliberately stacked with fictitious names.

Sounds just like ACORN and the Democrats, doesn't it?

White House Fends Off Specter of Katrina in Federal Response to Oil Spill

It would be if the media did its job.

NYT: GM, Treasury lied about bailout repayment

What a shocker.

This article by Gretchen Morrison in the New York Times is significant for two reasons. First, the Times has decided to give this significant coverage, which means the story of GM’s misleading claim of paying back the taxpayer-funded bailout will continue to have some legs. More importantly, it also points the finger at Treasury and the Obama administration for its complicity in allowing CEO Ed Whitacre to make those claims without challenge:

'Hypocrite' Harman and her family's inheritance tax dodge

Heh, taxes are for the little people.

Harriet Harman was accused of 'hypocrisy' yesterday for attacking Tory plans to cut inheritance tax although her own family exploited loopholes to shelter their fortune from the levy.

The Labour deputy leader was revealed to be one of the beneficiaries of a trust set up in her father's will designed to reduce the amount of tax she would eventually pay on his estate.

Miss Harman has repeatedly railed against the Tory proposal to raise the inheritance threshold substantially, describing it as a 'tax cut for the wealthiest estates'.

But documents show how her father attempted to use complex tax avoidance loopholes to protect some of his fortune from the Inland Revenue.

South Park is the least of Islam’s problems: The Mohammed Image Archive

These protests, and even killings, over dipictions of Mohammed, were all just a red herring anyway. Their real purpose always has been and will always be, to get westerners to give up their vaunted freedom of speech rights. And in far too many places they have succeeded.

Why does the Wall Street regulation overhaul give FTC authority over the Internet?

Because the Democrats are trying to grab as much power as they can.

Earlier this week, the Washington Post reported on another little Easter egg in a bill cruising through Congress that would normally have followed Nancy Pelosi’s policy of discovery ex post facto. Democrats have pushed hard to get the financial-regulation reform bill unstuck in the Senate, mainly playing on class-warfare themes in painting the GOP as the party of eeeeeeevil Wall Street robber barons. However, the House version of the bill contains provisions that would put the Federal Trade Commission in position to start issuing rules on Internet transactions that would not only slow down business growth but also have no relevance at all to the financial collapse that prompted the bill:

Gulf oil spill becoming Obama’s Katrina

But, since this isn't Bush we're talking about, it's no big deal.

MARK TAPSCOTT: Gulf oil spill becoming Obama’s Katrina: A timeline of presidential delay.

UPDATE: NYT editorial: Obama should have acted sooner on the oil spill. “First Bill Maher wonders aloud why The One isn’t getting more crap about the spill, and now this. Why must these darned wingnuts forever find fault with our president? Seriously, though, Bush would have been torn to shreds for reacting the same way and everyone, from the Times on down, knows it.”

The media simply doesn't care if you or I notice their hypocrisy. They think they are too big to fail. We shall see.

LAPD estimate crowd at immigrant rights rally is about half of what was expected

That's because many more people support the law than the media would have you believe.

Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck estimated that about 50,000 immigration rights activists participated in Saturday's May Day rally, about half of what police estimated earlier.

Police had anticipated a larger crowd because of the controversy surrounding the recent passage of a tough immigration law in Arizona that allows police to check the legal status of people they believe are in the state illegally.

“All this was an estimate," Beck said when asked about the department's earlier projection. "These are educated guesses. We were unable to tell what the event in Arizona would do, so we estimated 100,000 people.”]

The Closing of the Muslim Mind: How Intellectual Suicide Created the Modern Islamist

The Closing of the Muslim Mind solves such puzzles as:

· why peace is so elusive in the Middle East

· why the Arab world stands near the bottom of every measure of human development

· why scientific inquiry is nearly dead in the Islamic world

· why Spain translates more books in a single year than the entire Arab world has in the past thousand years

· why some people in Saudi Arabia still refuse to believe man has been to the moon

· why Muslim media frequently present natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina as God’s direct retribution

Meet the mid-ranking civil servant working on IT projects who rakes in £500,000 a year - three times more than the PM

This is why liberals love big government, so they can get their snouts in the trough.

The Daily Mail has learned that as Director of Business Design and Development he was paid a huge daily rate, additional consultancy fees and expenses that amounted to just under £500,000 a year.

But when the UKBA this week advertised the post, the salary had been reduced, albeit to a still generous £100,000.

Staff at the agency say Mr Grinnell, who is also a director of consulting firm Qedis, has used his position to employ around 30 people from his own company on huge salaries.

Ex-Cabinet minister Hazel Blears admits using illegal immigrant on campaign team

You can't make this stuff up.

Former Cabinet minister Hazel Blears has been using an illegal immigrant who is facing deportation on her campaign team.

Rhoda Sulaimon, who is originally from Nigeria, has been leafleting for the Labour MP in her constituency of Salford, Greater Manchester.

The revelation is another blow for Labour, whose open-door immigration policy has already faced much criticism this week after Gordon Brown called an elderly lady in Rochdale concerned about the subject a ‘bigot’.

British Muslim daubs war memorial with Islamic slogans... but CPS says he was NOT racially motivated

It gets worse.

A Muslim protester who daubed a war memorial with graffiti glorifying Osama Bin Laden and proclaiming 'Islam will dominate the world' walked free from court after prosecutors ruled his actions were not motivated by religion.

Let's see, he's muslim, wrote Islam will dominate the world, but his actions weren't motivated by religion. Britain has become an Islamic state. Welcome to Londonistan.
