The BBC's Justin Webb on America

Clueless as ever. Remember folks, Webb is the BBC's North American editor. Webb brags openly about painting a false picture of America.

"America is often portrayed as an ignorant, unsophisticated sort of place, full of bible bashers and ruled to a dangerous extent by trashy television, superstition and religious bigotry, a place lacking in respect for evidence based knowledge.

I know that is how it is portrayed because I have done my bit to paint that picture, and that picture is in many respects a true one."

Gee Webb, tell us what you really think of America.

In his latest piece, Webb moans that if only the rest of America could be like San Francisco.

"And yet I feel torn by the European familiarity of San Francisco - its rationalism and secularism and public transportism. Being European in outlook is not - it seems to me - the future for America. "

Thank god for that! Webb fails to mention that the European Court of Human Rights is the reason convicted al Qaeda terrorists cannot be deported from Britain. As Europe becomes more and more Islamic, Webb might want to dwell on that "European familiarity".

This is priceless from Webb.

"So many European tourists here: poor things, they have travelled ten hours to come to the only part of America that isn't American. They'll go home knowing nothing."

See what I mean about clueless? I'm sure it's news to San Franciscans that are no longer Americans.

Here are a few things to ponder Justin. California just voted down gay marriage; how so un European! Since Obama and most Americans oppose gay marriage, I'd say they're in line with the rest of America.

Then there's the Governor. The Governor is proof that anyone can come to America and live the American dream - Arnold Swartzenager epitomizes that.

Of course Webb was using only one town to make his point. He had to in order to paint his picture.

Is Obama drifting?

The BBC's Justin Webb joins the hand wringing.

Webb starts out saying Obama is worse than Jimmy Carter. He's right.

Far from it: the reaction when he pulled out on Tuesday makes that clear. Whether he was the right man or not is way above my pay grade, but the failure to notice that he was a tad controversial and/or the failure to back the guy once the going got tough really does seem to be a sign of incoherence and drift at the heart of the administration. This is, after all, a key post."

Well Webb, you and your left wing media cohorts anointed Obama. Maybe if you guys had spent more time investigating Obama than trying to dig up dirt or Palin or smear McCain, we might not be in this mess.

America - a life "British people can only dream"

says the BBC!! This from Justin Webb no less, whose infamous admission that he distorts the true picture of America adorns the masthead of this blog.

Justin has been living in America for 6 years and is having difficulty resovling the distored picture of America he wants to portray to the world, one the BBC wants to promote, and the true America. Just listen.

"What surprises the British tourists is that, in areas of the US that look and feel like suburban Britain, there is simply less crime and much less violent crime.

Doors are left unlocked, public telephones unbroken.

One reason - perhaps the overriding reason - is that there is no public drunkenness in polite America, simply none.

I have never seen a group of drunk young people in the entire six years I have lived here. I travel a lot and not always to the better parts of town.

It is an odd fact that a nation we associate - quite properly - with violence is also so serene, so unscarred by petty crime, so innocent of brawling. "

How can it be both Justin? How can it be "so serene" and "so innocent of brawling" and yet "quite properly" associated with violence? Because the BBC and left wing reporters like Justin want it that way.

UK - BBC's clueless Justin Webb

Webb, the BBC's Washington correspondent and Clintonian, shows just how clueless he is with this blog entry.

"Meanwhile, on the subject of less than wonderful news for Mrs Clinton, this catches my eye in the British press. The question: as Northern Ireland's peace deal was being thrashed out, was she watching basket-weaving displays (or whatever the Ulster equivalent is), or was she locking horns with the players as she suggests? David Trimble ought to know and has no reason to diminish her role."

Really Justin? Did you even bother to read what Trimble said? Here, let me help you out. First off, let's hear what Hillary claimed she did.

"Clinton said Wednesday, "I helped bring peace to Northern Ireland."

Now, did Trimble "diminish her role" or did he not? Here's what Trimble said using Justin's own link.

"Hillary Clinton had no direct role in bringing peace to Northern Ireland and is a "wee bit silly" for exaggerating the part she played, according to Lord Trimble of Lisnagarvey, the Nobel Peace Prize winner and former First Minister of the province."

Such is the calibre of journalists who work at the BBC - clueless.

Cuba - BBC's Justin Webb not towing the party line

Writing on his blog, Justin says "this is the best commentary" he's seen on the Cuban situation. Mmm. Wonder what's in the article Justin is so excited with? This is from just the second paragraph:

"One dictator, Fidel Castro, handed over the reins to another dictator, brother Raul."

Steady there Justin, the BBC's policy is that PRESIDENT Castro is a great leader.

"But a neat, news-free transition may be wishful thinking. There's half a century of frustration pent up in Cuba."...

"The Cubans who would be living in Florida if they could far outnumber the 125,000 who came in 1980 with the Mariel boatlift."

Justin must have missed the BBC's policy stance on Cuba - it's a paradise we should all be so lucky to live in.

And all that's just in the first four paragraphs! Oh, it gets better.

"The situation in Cuba resembles that of East Germany." Cuba is East Gemrany! Wow! Remember now, this is the best commentary Justin's seen on Cuba.

Shlaes goes on to give Bush's father a great deal of credit for the handling of the East German situation and says Bush is following his father.

"There's evidence that the current president is already following the first part of his father's strategy. That's why Deputy Secretary of State John Negroponte has been telling reporters that the trade embargo on Cuba still stands. Negroponte isn't pleasing Democrats, but his position makes sense. "

Presumedly then Justin aggees with that.

To be fair to Justin, he's been living the US for a long time now and not in the far left wing BBC bubble. That might help to explain Justin's enlightenment.

UK - Al-Qaeda would back McCain

That's what the BBC's Justin Webb says.

"Islamic terrorists want war. They want suffering - among others and their own people alike.

They would surely surmise that McCain will give them what they want. Bin Laden himself intervened with what many thought was the effect of keeping President Bush in power in 2004 with that weird tape just before the poll.

I think al-Qaeda would back McCain - that is not an argument for or against America backing him, but it seems to me that the vague assumption that the terrorists would back a lefty is lazy thinking..."

No bias from this BBC hack is there? Just read his comments at the mast head of this blog.

Yep Justin, I'm sure al Qaeda would love to be bombed and hounded out of their safe havens, set on the run, leaders and foot soldiers killed and unable to plan terror attacks around the globe. They certainly have no wish to return to the good old days when they were left alone to build, grow and plot in peace, the way Clinton let them.

What a freaking moron.
