Media puts the heat on the UN and Koffi Annan

After more than a year of ignoring the biggest financial scandal in the world involving the UN, main stream media take notice - now that Bush won.

Writing in the New York Times, William Safire is even calling for Koffi Annan to resign.

This marks the end of the beginning of the scandal. Its end will not begin until Kofi Annan, even if personally innocent, resigns - having, through initial ineptitude and final obstructionism, brought dishonor on the Secretariat of the United Nations.

While I am glad to see big media finally start to cover the story, they should be ashamed of sitting on it until after the elections in a clear move to help John Kerry.

Here is a link to an earlier post on the UN scandal with links to BBC and Sunday Times articles.
