Really? Let's look at the numbers.
U.S. and Iraqi forces attacked the insurgent stronghold on Saturday and by Sunday night reported 156 militants were killed and 246 captured.
And on the other side.
Five Iraqi soldiers have been killed and three injured in the operation.
I've also read somewhere that this if the first operation of this size where the Iraqi forces led the mission and outnumbered the American forces.
In further signs that Zarqawi is losing, it's worth noting "...that residents and leaders there who are fed up with insurgents "asked us to intervene."
And
Al-Dulaimi said there had been requests for similar actions in other places and said he wanted to tell the citizens in Ramadi, Qaim, and Samarra that "we are coming."
Meanwhile, Zarqawi rants on.
The man on the audio recording urged his fighters to be ready for a "final" battle and show no kindness to the Americans, whom he called "cowards who always seek to run away."
With a kill ratio of 31 to 1 and the local populace against him, Zarqawi's men are about to meet their final battle.
