US - Cautious hope for Mid-East talks

The BBC has this to say about the talks.

"The talks simply seek to assure both sides that the United States and the big Arab powers will do what is necessary to support a dialogue, and to get a firm commitment to the launch of that dialogue, he says. "

Just how far will "the big Arab powers", including Saudi Arabia, go to "do what is necessary"? Not far it would seem.

" Saudi Arabia's participation in the U.S.-sponsored talks on Middle East peace was seen as a diplomatic coup for the Bush administration but the kingdom has made clear there will be no handshakes with Israeli officials."
